Jockey Blake Shinn cracked the ton Wednesday with a treble at Sandown and kept the metropolitan premiership race alive in doing so.

Mighty, trained by Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, sealed an early running double after Supercilious saluted for Leon and Troy Corstens to advance Shinn from 98 to 100 Victorian winners for the season.

The champion jockey secured a third winner on the card with the Lindsay Park-trained Beast Mode in a 1000m Benchmark 78.

“It’s been a good season and rapt to get the 100,” Shinn said.

“A lot of support and a big thanks to everyone, let’s hope we can round the season off, still a month to go, we want to end it on a high.”

Giga Kick primed for The Everest … but who will get the ride?

Reigning champion jockey Shinn moved to 66 metro winners – 13 behind clubhouse leader Damian Lane (79) – with seven city meetings to go before July 31.

Shinn has up to seven rides on Saturday at Flemington, while Lane is booked to ride five horses.

“Probably not (close enough),” Shinn said.

“It’s unlikely but day-by-day, all I’m looking at doing is coming to the races and enjoying my riding … getting great support and delivering.

“At the end of the day, premierships and all that are a by-product of a season’s work, happy with the way things are going.”

Programming pain for Melbourne Cup contender Mark Twain

Shinn was denied a potential four-timer by the barest margin in the Stow Storage Solutions Benchmark 74 (1300m) as He’s Beset could not quite reel in Baroque Road, ridden by Jamie Mott.

Mott moved to 99 Victorian winners with success on Baroque Road and handed trainer Ciaron Maher his 100th city winner of the season.

Champion trainer Maher finished with a double — 101 metro winners for the season to date — when Awash claimed the last on the card.

Set to claim the stable’s fifth consecutive Melbourne premiership, Maher has prepared 198 Victorian winners this season.

He trained 97 city winners last season and a personal best 104 the campaign prior.
