Luke Nolen and Peter Moody on Wednesday combined for their 900th winner together with the Billy Slater-owned filly Cooly at Caulfield Heath.
Nolen, who sealed a double with Cooly’s win, welcomed the remarkable milestone.
“We probably should be at 1000,” Nolen laughed.
“He had a bit of time off, I’ve ridden part-time for about six years with injury.
“They’re numbers on a page but 900 for one trainer is pretty remarkable.
“Particularly in an environment we probably don’t reward a lot of loyalty in this game anymore, that’s probably the great thing about it.”

Nolen, who rode the Moody-trained legend Black Caviar in 22 of her 25 perfect starts, enjoyed the win on Wednesday for fellow Queensland expat Slater.
“The only other thing better than riding winners is beating New South Wales in an Origin series,” Nolen said.
“I’m his (Slater) favourite at the moment and he’s my favourite.”

• Space outweighs sentiment as Ollie goes to auction
Slater, a passionate owner-breeder, bought Cooly from the Gold Coast Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale last year.
“We’re having a bit of fun with her, only her fourth race but she’s run pretty well, good to knock the maiden off in town,” Slater said.
“Pretty honoured to be part of that (Nolen-Moody milestone).”
Moody’s co-trainer Katherine Coleman echoed the milestone sentiment.
“It’s unbelievable for Luke and Moods and goes to show the longevity and extent of their relationship,” Coleman said.
AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon was also trackside Wednesday, hours before the National Draft, to watch a two-year-old filly, Oman, run fourth on debut at Caulfield Heath.
