Melbourne Cup-winning owner Ozzie Kheir will be in isolation at home when the latest member of his huge racing portfolio debuts at Cranbourne.

Kheir tested positive for Covid-19 after celebrating his charge Verry Elleegant’s Melbourne Cup triumph, consigning him to his home while he sheds the virus.

You Ess Ess Are will step out for local trainers Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young in the Rhino The Wrecker 2YO Plate (1000m).

Busuttin and Young combined with Kheir to win the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) with Sierra Sue in September.

Tagalog also carried Kheir’s blue and gold silks to victory in last year’s Blue Diamond Stakes for Busuttin and Young before the colt’s part-sale to Victorian breeding operation Yulong.

The combination also produced last month’s Group 2 Schweppes Vase winner Forgot You.

“We might as well jump on the bandwagon and try to win some races for Ozzie in those colours,” Busuttin said.

“We had Sierra Sue and Forgot You this year but we always want more.”

You Ess Ess Are will be the second runner for her sire, the dual Group 1 winner Russian Revolution, who stands at NSW stud Newgate Farm.

You Ess Ess Are has won two of her three jumpouts on the Cranbourne training track leading up to her debut, including a jumpout win on Monday.

“She had to have a jumpout to pass her barrier certificate but she seems to have come through that well,” Busuttin said.

“She seems a nice natural filly albeit at the jumpouts, she’s probably not up against the well-bred two-year-olds from the big stable.

“It’s hard to get a line on them so she’s a very quick and natural two-year-old.”

Busuttin said the 1000m would be perfect for You Ess Ess Are’s debut as would heading across the road to the Cranbourne course proper.

“We just thought over the 1000m around her home track for $130,000, it’s a nice kick-off for her,” Busuttin said.

“We think she can go there and be hard to beat.”

Brett Prebble will ride You Ess Ess Are at Cranbourne.
