Trainer Michael Freedman will attempt to win his second Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic with Offenbach
Randwick trainer Michael Freedman is attempting back-to-back wins in the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic, and believes this year’s race will be a strong form race.
Trainer Michael Freedman will return to a happy hunting ground in a bid to launch his latest Magic Millions bid with promising youngster Offenbach at Wyong on Wednesday.
Offenbach can put himself in the frame for a trip to the Gold Coast for next month’s highly-coveted $3m Magic Millions 2YO Classic when he contests the $200,000 Wyong Magic Millions Classic (1100m).

Freedman used the Wyong feature as a springboard last year when ill-fated colt Highness took out the crucial lead-up.
“Last year’s edition was probably a weaker edition to this year and Highness went up and finished second to Storm Boy in the main race,” Freedman said.
“I think this year has a bit more depth to it so it will probably end up being a very strong form race come Magic Millions day.”
Offenbach, a $650,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale buy, comes into the Wyong test with race-day experience after finishing a close runner-up to Blitzburg over 900m at Newcastle on debut.

Freedman was happy with the debut run and has applied the blinkers to get the most out of his son of Snitzel in his second-up assignment.
“He was a bit wayward and not really focused but with that said, the winner was sharp too,” Freedman said.
“They ran home in 32 and a half (seconds) so they can go much quicker and there wasn’t much between them.
“Even though it was a small field, the first and second horse put a gap on the rest of them.
“It’s a good opportunity to try him in the blinkers and he will either but his hand up as a genuine Magic Millions candidate or we will back off to the autumn.”
Jockey Tommy Berry pilots Offenbach ($7) while Zac Lloyd partners Freedman’s other contender on the card.

Last-start winner Queen Of The Mile can enhance her own claims for a trip to the Sunshine State in the Magic Millions Wyong 3YO & 4YO Stakes (1200m).
She was a tough first-up winner at Canterbury and is a $5 chance to win again.
“When she gets the right conditions to suit, she is very genuine,” Freedman said.
“She has bounced out of that Canterbury run well, I am very happy with her.
“Zac Lloyd to ride, I think it’s worth a try to see if she measures up and a trip to Queensland is worth looking at.”
