Trainer Kevin Daffy in no hurry to chase black type with talented mare Oh Too Good
Trainer Kevin Daffy says Gold Bullion favourite Oh Too Good is part of the family and will pick out the best races for her regardless of prizemoney or status.
Favourite Oh Too Good is due to run second on Saturday in the VOBIS Gold Bullion (1400m) based on her form line.
The tenacious mare, trained by Kevin Daffy, has alternated firsts and seconds in seven career starts to date.
“We’re hoping to break the sequence,” Daffy laughed.
“We’re desperate to break the sequence.
“She’s due to run second and we don’t want that.”

Oh Too Good is a $1.95 favourite with Ladbrokes from Running By ($2.60), trained by Ciaron Maher.
Daffy fielded interest from Supernova slot-holders but ultimately opted for the Gold Bullion as Maher has a potential stranglehold on the $1m race on Saturday at Pakenham with favourite Nadal.
Oh Too Good arrived in time to win by a long neck last month at Cranbourne.
“She’s absolutely beautiful, come through Cranbourne perfectly, she’s in terrific order,” Daffy said.
“She’s just a competitive girl, she just wants to win.
“She thinks she’s won all seven, she doesn’t realise she ran second three times.”

Oh Too Good will be freshened up after Saturday for a late autumn campaign.
Daffy, who owns Oh Too Good with family, wants to enjoy a nice race-day experience on the home track first before 2025 ambitions.
“She’s in such fine order at the moment and the opportunity to run in a nice race like that on our home cup day is very enticing and we’re excited about it,” Daffy said.
Oh Too Good’s progress has prompted a lot of questions and opinions on potential stakes races next year but hobby horseman Daffy wants only the best for the equine member of the family.
“Everyone is at me about ‘you got to get this horse some black type, Kev’,” Daffy said.
“This is quite a unique situation. She is not just a horse to us, she is a permanent part of the family, we own her and she will never be sold, to the day she dies, she will at our place for the next 30 years.
“Whether she’s got black type (stakes win or place), pink type, blue type, it doesn’t make much difference to me and my family, we’ll just pick what’s best for her.
“If she’s up to running in (stakes) races like that we’ll obviously look at them, but I’ve got no fetish about getting black type for her, even her babies, they wouldn’t be sold.
“People might not understand that, but that’s the truth of the matter from our perspective.
“We promised this horse a home for the rest of her life, whether she even got to the racetrack.”
Jockey Daniel Stackhouse will finally get the chance to ride Oh Too Good on Saturday.
Stackhouse rode Oh Too Good in her first jumpout in 2022 but a series of clashing commitments resulted in him not being able to pilot the mare in a race until this Saturday.
