Top bets from Jett Hatton for Hamilton races Monday

It might pay to follow horses from powerhouse stables at Hamilton on Monday while an apprentice has a strong book of rides.

BEST BET – ENIGMA (Race 5 No 3 – $2.10)
Lightly-raced mare which returned with a solid effort, hitting the line strongly over 1000m at Warrnambool last time out. Declan Bates sticks and expect Enigma to only improve for having the run, along with stepping out in trip.

NEXT BEST

PRISTINE IMAGE (Race 7 No 7 – $2.10)
Ran super last time out when fourth at this track behind Zancada. Sat four-deep but still made plenty of ground late to finish within 1½ lengths of the winner. Both her wins have come at Hamilton and with Dean Yendall back in the saddle, Pristine Image can find her way back to the winner’s list.

YARRA BOY (Race 8 No 5 – $3.50)
Backed as if unbeatable first-up over this track and distance and while he finished out of the placings, he was held up but made good ground once clear. Expect Yarra Boy to take good improvement for having the run and he’s drawn to get a soft run from barrier two – just needs even luck to win.

VALUE BET

SMARTLOVE (Race 4 No 9 – $7.50)
This Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained mare made good ground late on debut when finishing two lengths from the winner and is open to plenty of improvement. Steps out to 1100m, draws well on the inside and gets the services of John Allen. Looks over the odds at an each-way price.

THE JOCKEY – TATUM BULL

Trainers are keen to take advantage of the 1.5kg claim for Tatum Bull which gives the apprentice a good chance to leave Hamilton a winner.
