RACE 1: Maiden Handicap (1250m)

IMPENDING FORTUNE (1) is among the one-percent of horses foaled each year officially registered with the Stud Book as ‘black’ in colour. The Colt Prosser-trained 4YO was $12 into $9.50 on debut at Port Macquarie on June 15 and ran an honourable fifth of 10 over 1108m. Extra metres will assist. ANOTHER PEACH (3) has placed at three of her four starts and was fourth at the other. Has the pace to lead here.

BET: IMPENDING FORTUNE (1) each-way.

RACE 2: Class 2 Handicap (1250m)

TONKATSU GODDESS (4) hasn’t turned in a bad one in all ten starts; in fact the majority of them were ‘good’ or ‘very good’. This is her right trip and she gets there third-up off a last start second on a Heavy 8 at Newcastle. AGED CARE (2) has a tidy record of two wins, two seconds and a third from seven starts. Deserves credit for her determined win at Port under 60.5kg. DIVINE BENE (3) has a 66.7 per cent win/place strike-rate and 100 per cent win rate at the track.

BET: TONKATSU GODDESS (4) to win.

RACE 3: Maiden Plate (1350m)

SIR TUA (10) looks like he was ‘good buying’, snapped up for $35,000 at Karaka in 2024. Speaking of New Zealand, Sir Tua’s fifth dam is the mother of that nation’s immortal, Bonecrusher! There is a bit to suggest that Sir Tua will get over a trip in time so 1350m second-up would seem to suit. Ditto that big time for SWEXAN (4), the son of Sweynesse out of a Jakkalberry mare. Closed off well on debut. Improving type.

BET: SIR TUA (10) to win, quinella 4,10, box trifecta 1,4,7,10.

RACE 4: Maiden Plate (1150m)

COSMIC EAGLE (9) is from the family made famous by winemaker Wolf Blass. This Ryan/Alexiou trained filly was safe in the market when on debut at Newcastle, holding her ground throughout to finish third in a 900m Maiden. Handled the Heavy and the extra metres play to her advantage. HELL ISLAND (8)’s trials are a lot better than they read. Bred to swim. FROM THE PEAK (4) was short on debut and will have lots of admirers again.

BET: COSMIC EAGLE (9) to win (best bet), HELL ISLAND (8) to place, exacta 9 to beat 8.

RACE 5: Class 1 Plate (2100m)

MR CONSPIRACY (6) is bred to run two miles. Here’s an interesting fact; his seventh dam is by a stallion called Friday Night. Who is he? Phar Lap’s lesser known lesser no less! They won’t be making movies about Mr Conspiracy but he is hammering on the door to win one of these middle distance races. FAIRHEAD (8), the one in the John Muir colours, is a half-sister to Sizzling but this one looks like she wants to ‘stay’. Plenty of other chances; DUE CALZINI (3) among them.

BET: MR CONSPIRACY (6) each-way.

RACE 6: Colts, Horses & Geldings Benchmark 58 (1150m)

RED SPECTOR (5) was impressive when he won at Coffs Harbour back in December. Talented type, trialling well. MANAGE THE CYCLE (8) has only won four times in 41 starts but he placed on 10 occasions. He ran third twice last month, once to subsequent Highway winner Calico Miss. CHEAP GAS (3), the very cleverly named son of Santos, is building up to a peak this preparation and was an awesome winner at his only Heavy track run.

BET: RED SPECTOR (5) to win, or if scratched, mange The Cycle to place.

RACE 7: Fillies & Mares Benchmark 58 (1150m)

ITSZARBABY (8) has so far only managed one win and one second from her 13 starts but she has a handful of fourths and one pretty decent fifth as well so she can certainly lay claim to being one that is ‘usually thereabouts’. Not that these others are all pushover here, but she probably doesn’t have to do anymore than what she did at Nowra last start to win today. PRINCESS MARY (1) has a compelling first-up record and has some quite solid Highway form on the board

BET: ITSZARBABY (8) to win, quinella 1,8.

RACE 8: Benchmark 66 (1300m)

MY MATE KATE (6) will be ridden by Andrew Gibbons for the third time in a row. His first ride on the Your Song mare was her easy, on pace, win at Newcastle on a Heavy 8 on June 7. They paired up again at Gosford 12 days later and this time was a ‘fading’ fourth over the mile. That run alone suggests that she is way better off back in trip on Tuesday. Donna Grisedale has OSTRACISED (1) absolutely flying now. Drawn to advantage and loves the slop. EIGHTY EIGHT STARS (3) and GOLDEN HONOUR (4) both have claims.

BET: MY MATE KATE (6) to win.
