Rosehill Inside Mail for 2024 Five Diamonds Day: Lindermann ‘ready to peak’, trainer Chris Waller says
Hall of Fame trainer Chris Waller has given an upbeat assessment about track specialist Lindermann on the eve of the $2 million Five Diamonds (1800m) at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.
Hall of Fame trainer Chris Waller has given an upbeat assessment about track specialist Lindermann on the eve of the $2 million Five Diamonds (1800m) at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.
Lindermann has won three of his four starts on his home track including the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas during his classic season. He goes into the Five Diamonds after a strong win in the weight-for-age Craven Plate two weeks ago.
“I thought it was a good win last start and he’s ready to peak third-up,’’ Waller said. “He won over 1800m last start and is ready to go.’’

Lindermann is at $8 in latest TAB Fixed Odds betting for the Five Diamonds behind firming favourite Territory Express ($4)
Waller also provided his assessment of his stable’s other Five Diamonds runners, Rediener ($26) and Osipenko ($51).
“Rediener hasn’t had a lot of luck in his races but he’s ready to go,’’ Waller said.
“Osipenko’s draw (17) makes it a bit tricky. We might try something a bit different and just go forward, put him into the race.’’

Waller also Olentia and former French mare Rose Bloom contesting the Group 2 $500,000 Hot Danish Stakes (1400m).
Olentia was brilliant first-up winning The Nivison before finishing fourth in The Invitation, while Rose Bloom – a dual Group 1 placegetter in Europe – makes her Australian race debut after trialling earlier this week.
“After a brilliant first-up win, Olentia was a bit plain last start but she has trained on well,’’ Waller said.
“Rose Bloom has great formlines in France and we were happy with her trial on Monday.’’

PRICE CHECK
TERRITORY EXPRESS (race 8) has been a big firmer for the Five Diamonds since the barrier draw midweek. He was at $8 but is now into $4.20 outright favouritism for the big race. CONFESS OUR DREAMS (race 2) has also been well backed, firming from $2.30-$2.15 with a bet of $2400 at $2.10.

Trainer Paul Niceforo is a quintessential battler. This week, Territory Express' trainer granted a rare interview to @RayThomas_1 on his 40-year journey to find the horse that would change his life. ðhttps://t.co/nqmRXnpVcR

TRIAL POINTERS
GILDED WATER (race 5) is a former English galloper owned by His Majesty King Charles III, and has had four starts, winning once at Chepstow before joining the Ciaron Maher stable. He only had the one barrier trial to prepare for his Australian debut but there was a lot to like about the way he showed early speed, travelled three wide without cover but still closed off the 1200m heat strongly to finish third. There’s been good money for Gilded Water and he’s one to watch.

WEST OF SWINDON (race 6) has had one trial going into the Golden Gift but it was a very impressive effort to win at Warwick Farm over 792m. He jumped cleanly, found the inside rail to lead and comfortably held off Wodeton to win by three-quarters of a length in fast time. He’s by boom Coolmore Stud sire Wootton Bassett and is closely related on his dam side to triple Group 1 winner Fawkner. West Of Swindon looked a natural in his trial and is set to make his presence felt on debut in the Golden Gift.

SECTIONAL STARS
BELCLARE (race 7) led at a strong gallop and never looked likely to be run down in The Invitation, stopping the clock at a brilliant 1m 20.74s for the Randwick 1400m. She ran a fast 10.94s between the 400m and 200m as she broke clear of the chasing pack and recorded 11.59s final 200m as she maintained her advantage to the finish.

TERRITORY EXPRESS (race 8) was back in the field and inside runners on the turn but weaved through the pack and charged after Iknowastar, failing narrowly to reel in that horse on the line. Territory Express ran his final 600m in 33.87s despite having his momentum impeded at the top of the straight. When clear, he ripped home his final 200m sectional in 11.62s. The step up to 1800m should not be an issue in the Five Diamonds.

BEST BET
CONFESS OUR DREAMS (race 2) settled on speed and was always in control as she scored a comfortable win at Warwick Farm when shouldering 61kg. She’s won four of her eight starts and is right at her peak after three runs from a spell. Confess Our Dreams does meet Angel Fund worse at the weights for beating that horse by less than a half length but the 1100m suits and she can win again.

VALUE
FREEDOM RALLY (race 8) was doing his best work on the line as he closed late for third to Iknowastar in the Five Diamonds Prelude over 1500m at Randwick. The step up to 1800m won’t be an issue and he is striking top form at just the right time. He’s good value at $19 for the Five Diamonds.
