The Last Say: Nathan Exelby has Tall latest tips and news ahead of today’s excellent Doomben program

NATHAN Exelby has The Last Say on today’s excellent Doomben card and sees plenty of potential value, especially late on.

DOOMBEN

Track: Good (3)

Weather: Fine

BE WARY

Last Saturday played very much to leaders and those not worse than three off the fence. The rail goes out another 2m to 4m today, hopefully providing a fairer playing field. There’s some good chances in the first two races that race back in the field, so that will tell whether it has evened up in the last week.

THE BEST BET

Brazen Beau, Race 6

Dominant first-up winner here in Queensland and the extra 150m will pose no fears, especially with the likelihood of a soft time of it in front. His main dangers are either drawn awkwardly (Looks Like The Cat) or get a long way back (Pressing), so it’s likely they will be spotting him too much start.

THE NEXT BEST

Rough Copy, Race 2

Really taken with his fast-finishing effort at Doomben first up in Australia. Was a little slowly away and drifted well back there before getting cleaned up on the turn. He did a good job to pick up and run to the line. With the favourite Agitate likely to be taking short strides near the line, this fellow will be eating up the ground late.

VALUE BET

Hot Snitzel, Race 8

Given no hope at all in the run in the BTC Cup, when three wide facing the breeze and pulling his head off. Drawn a little awkwardly again, but can’t see him getting it as bad here. Not disgraced behind Lankan Rupee at WFA last year and his big win over Knoydart in Sydney ties in with the likes of Spirit Of Boom here.

THE WHISPER

Cape Kidnappers (Race 3) was said to be short of a run when a betting drifter and running accordingly first up. Should be spot on today and maps to get the perfect trail. D-Day in terms of where he sits ability-wise.
