Rachel King will swap the wedding dress for riding silks when she fulfils her Royal Ascot dream on Thursday night.

King got married to partner Luke Hilton in Oxford on Sunday but has put the honeymoon on hold to take a pair of rides at England’s famous Ascot carnival this week.

The Sydney-based rider, who made the move to Australia 11 years ago to further her career, will complete a career full circle when she pilots the Jessica Harrington-trained Highland Bling in the King George V Stakes.

Highland Bling is raced by OTI Racing.

A-five time Group 1 winner, King is also set to link up with Yulong-owned Strutting for John and Thady Gosden in the Sandringham Stakes on Friday.

King hatched a plan to ride at this year’s Ascot carnival following a successful stint in Japan that saw her become the first foreign female jockey to win a graded Japan Racing Association flat race.

A link through world renown English jockey Ryan Moore, who has spent time riding in Japan, helped paved the way for King to get her chance on one of world racing’s biggest stages.

King is hopeful of securing more rides on the final day of the Ascot carnival on Saturday.

Australian-born English trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam will have her first runners of this year’s carnival with Son Of Man (Britannia Stakes) and Sons And Lovers (Group 3 Hampton Court Stakes).

Victorian trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr will also unleash Kitty Rose in the Sandringham Stakes, which connections hope could feature in a $10 million Golden Eagle this spring.
