SATURDAY racing comes to you today from Randwick and Caulfield. Here’s all the last minute tips and info from Daily Telegraph racing editor Ray Thomas.

ROYAL RANDWICK

Weather: Warm, sunny day with a forecast top temperature of 31c.

Track: Good (4)

Rail: 3m out

CAULFIELD

Weather: Warm, sunny day with a forecast top temperature of 30c.

Track: Good (3)

Rail: 12m out

BE WARY: Glorious spring weather for Randwick’s showpiece Epsom meeting and the Caulfield program for AFL Grand Final Day. Randwick’s track surface should be near perfect and generally the rail out 3m provides the fairest conditions. At Caulfield, the rail is out 12m and with the firm track conditions it should favour leaders.

ROYAL RANDWICK

THE BEST BET: Complacent (race 6) was second-up after a long break when he defeated a star-studded field including Cox Plate favourite Kermadec in the Chelmsford Stakes, then tried hard when a close third to Preferment in the Hill Stakes. Complacent takes on lesser opposition in the weight-for-age Craven Plate and his on-pace racing style takes back luck out of the equation. Back him with confidence.

THE NEXT BEST: Speak Fondly (race 8) dominated the early spring fillies races, romping away with the Silver Shadow Stakes and Furious Stakes. She then took on the “boys’ and ran bravely to beat all but the outstanding colt Exosphere in the Golden Rose. Press Statement ran fifth in that race and last week the Stan Fox Stakes easily. Speak Fondly is back against the fillies today and is advantage by the set weights conditions. Her class will ensure she runs the 1600m.

VALUE BET: Entirely Platinum (race 7) goes into the Epsom in great form. He was run down by Boban in the final few strides when second in the Memsie Stakes then ran a close third to Fawkner in the Makybe Diva Stakes. Both his Group 1 wfa runs in Melbourne have been excellent. At his peak now, he will race up on the speed and prove hard to run down. Great value at $11.

THE WHISPER: Cohesion (race 1) is a son of Lonhro and won his Randwick 2yo trial with real authority two weeks ago. He powered to the line, opening up a margin on his chasing rivals. Strong colt who will run the 1000m right out. He’s value at $4.60 while favourite Capitalist is very short at $1.80.

CAULFIELD

THE BEST BET: High Church (race 3) is a lightly raced former English galloper who made his Australian debut and looked very good coming from the second half of the field and sweeping over the top of his rivals to win at Pakenham over 1600m three weeks ago. Fitter now and goes to 1800m which is more suitable. Looks promising and strikes a weak bunch today. Barring bad luck he should win.

NEXT BEST: Heza Ripper (race 2) is unbeaten in two starts and quite promising. He scored on debut at Te Awamutu in New Zealand back in May then transferred to the Hayes-Dabernig team and was super impressive at Geelong scoring with authority. Both his wins have been on rain-affected going so that is a slight concern given he strikes a firm track today. Emerging galloper and he is in a winnable race today at each way odds.

VALUE BET: Solar Burst (race 6) ran on well to score at Bendigo then again finished powerfully from well back and just missed at Pakenham behind Godspiel. Improving mare who has been up a while but is holding her form. She looks great value at $10 in overnight markets.

THE WHISPER: Misty Waters (race 1) scored at Moonee Valley and Sandown and was stakes placed as a juvenile. Returned to racing with a sound effort when sixth to the brilliant Petits Filous in the Quezette Stakes at Caulfield back in August. She has been kept fresh since and goes into a much easier race today. Hard to beat.
