BACK ME
QUICK LOVER (Race 1, No. 1) looks terrific each-way value and the perfect start to the day. She caught the eye making good ground from the back when resuming on Adelaide Cup Day. Fitter, gets in smartly here with the claim, and looks super each-way value at around $6 on TattsBet.
PRINCESS HUSSEY (Race 2, No. 2) comes off a smart win at Sandown and Darren Weir has a strong hand at this meeting. She’s perfectly drawn and gets some relief with the claim for Harry Coffey. The one to beat.
WORTH WATCHING
LUCKY FOR YOU (Race 5, No. 5) is a former Queenslander fitter for a run back from a spell for new trainer Daniel Bowman. Daniel who? Bowman is the foreman for Darren Weir’s Warrnambool operation and this horse produced second-up in the past. Some give in the track would be ideal but expect this bloke to run well. Betting will be a good guide.
ROUGHIE
WISE AND HAPPY (Race 5, No. 1) is a smart horse on his day and boats an impressive record when resuming. He wasn’t far away under these conditions when he last resumed and gets in well with the claim. This isn’t an easy race but he looks overs at $18 on TattsBet.
QUADDIE
LEG 1 — Race 5
LIGHT IT UP looks the big improver second-up from a spell, while NORTHERN ZHAR could be a star. He looked super winning on Adelaide Cup Day and he might just be better than his rivals here. WISE AND HAPPY looks a blowout chance fresh.
LEG 2 — Race 6
Interesting race for the stayers and we’re going to take a big risk and avoid the Adelaide Cup form. GAMBLIN GURU missed a Cup start with a slight setback but her Lord Reims run behind Taiyoo was first-class. SIX FOOT made an absolute mess of his rivals last time over 2400m and if it had been the extra 200m of today’s race he probably would have won by further.
LEG 3 — Race 7
DOUBLE POCKETS is fresh and finally broke through last time out back in January, MINNYMOO looked awesome running her rivals ragged on Cup Day and trainer Dennis O’Leary is on fire. ROCK OUT is another who hasn’t done a lot wrong recently and was impressive winning on Cup Day.
LEG 4 — Race 8
DEANNA JEAN won with authority last time out and might be set for a big campaign while SILVERSANDS looked ready to fire and draws perfectly, fitter for two runs back from a spell. MR LIBERTY is a horse with talent and looks capable in this class, while IMPULSE DIAVOLO has shown ability and looks a progressive type.
QUADDIE NUMBERS
First leg — 1, 2, 8
Second leg — 2, 4
Third leg — 2, 3, 5
Fourth leg — 2, 3, 6, 7
