Lightly-raced filly Lyrical Beauty adds considerable interest to Tuesday’s Goulburn card when she resumes and under the new management.

INSIDE MAIL

RACE 1

Whisker To Whisker wears the same colours as her dam Zanbagh (who won back-to-back Emancipation Stakes) and her grand-dam, the AJC Oaks winner Wild Iris. Whisker To Whisker was fifth in the Adrian Knox and beaten in two runs at the Brisbane carnival after that and spelled. The 1400m on a big track like this is the perfect start to the campaign. Waikato Flyer was more than a pass-mark first-up in a fast run 1200m Mdway Class 1. Should really relish the extra 200m this time.

Bet: Whisker To Whisker to win, quinella 2,3

RACE 2

Ultra White is trained at Bathurst by Paul Theobald but is plenty familiar with Goulburn having raced there three times for a win, a second and a third. The descendant of 1945 Melbourne Cup winner Rainbird is in fantastic form at present, ‘2212’ to be precise. Track/distance winner two starts ago. Deep Shimmer beat Ultra White here two runs back. Off her game here the time after that but has gone back to the trials and won. Ant one the Danny Williams trained trio could win. There wasn’t a whole lot between them here 12-days ago.

Bet: Ultra White to win

RACE 3

Lyrical Beauty is a three-quarter-sister to David Payne’s $444,000 winner Fox Fighter. This daughter of Your Song was spelled and changed stables after her fifth in the Miss Finland at Muswellbrook where she SP’ed at $2.20. Trialled like a filly with a whole lot of talent beforehand. Stand In Line is a locally trained son of Tivaci who sent out some positive and encouraging signs in his first two runs last campaign. Looks like the one who will be finishing off the strongest of all here. Sheetice has been beaten at $1.70 and $1.30 at his last two. Ouch.

Bet: Lyrical Beauty to win, exacta 9 to beat 3

RACE 4

Fine Example ran third to Fay’s Angel. Every chance the time after that at Scone. Fair’s fair, she was plain at Armidale last start but she is better than that. She has to stand up and be counted here in what shapes a very winnable race with a long, long tail. Notabadsmile hasn’t managed a medal in nine starts so far but she wasn’t thrashed in a few of her city runs. Get the impression that the 2125m is going to bring out a better result for her. I’m Scarlett has banked two thirds from 14 starts, one of those was by less than a neck at Canberra 11-day ago. Has claims in an open affair.

Bet: Fine Example to win, Notabadsmile each-way

RACE 5

Miss Ghent is a valuable mare. Apart from the fact that she is by Dundeel, her dam is the handy Mine Two who is also a half-sister to Group 1 winner, Spright. Miss Ghent has a win and a third from her six starts but she has also run some really nice races in town. Amigos No More has only managed one win from 14 starts but he is quite a reliable horse in as much as he can be counted on to be finishing off his races. Blueblood mare Stasera has been on an upward trajectory this whole (three start) campaign.

Bet: Miss Ghent to win or if scratched Amigos No More to win

RACE 6

Deceive has done little or no wrong in her four starts to date. She was runner-up to the above average Written In Code at Newcastle one day, third another time and fourth and fifth respectively to round out her C.V. The John Thompson trained mare has had two trials to bring her up to speed and both were first rate. No better bred horse at Goulburn on Tuesday than Field Of Myrtle who is the sixth foal of Group 1 winner, Hurtle Myrtle. Spelled after a costly debut loss at Bathurst on Anzac day. Trialling like an absolute bomb! Rubix Love’s last trial at Rosehill was infinitely better than a 7th of 8.

Bet: Deceive to win, quinella 2,7

RACE 7

Inca Trail is Ryan/Alexiou-trained a son of the camp’s former crack colt Menari. Matter of fact, Inca Trails’ third dam, North Bell, is the mother of the great Northerly. Inca Trail might have bumped in a good one when runner-up to Matusalem on debut at Hawkesbury. Drew 8 of 9 that day, has box four this time. Easement is a strikingly handsome son of Preferement housed by recent Bathurst Cup winning trainer Richard Collett. Easement handed in his best run of his three start career when making ground late on the well above-average Snapback here.

Bet: Inca Trail to win, exacta 5 to beat 2

RACE 8

Bully For You has some compelling numbers to take this out, The son of Bull Point has raced at Goulburn three times for a win and a second. He is in fact a last start track/distance winner beating Destructive Diva who could potentially frank the form in an earlier race on the card. Mad Darcey has only managed one win from her 16 starts but that was at Warwick Farm. Should have zero reasons to fail from barrier 4 and Jay Ford in the saddle. Crazy Russian and British Statesman have obvious claims.

Bet: Bully For You
