DUBBO
BEST BET
Race 4, No.6: KORA MAGIC
She is super consistent and should be right on the speed here fresh where she’s won before. Even in defeat at her last start she was still strong over the line.
NEXT BEST
Race 5, No.5: I’M NOT SLEW
She looked the part in her lead up barrier trial and is already a provincial winner so she’s placed well here to continue to go through her grades.
VALUE BET
Race 7, No.11: WINNING FACTOR
She ran well behind a class horse in her barrier trial but finished in behind a few at the back and looked comfortable so she might slip under the radar here.
QUADDIE
Race 6: 1, 3, 4, 7
Race 7: 5, 11, 12, 13
Race 8: 1, 2, 5, 13
Race 9: 2, 8
TRAINER TO WATCH
Scott Singleton’s first starter Aquarter looks promising as does I’m Not Slew and Bridges To Babylon.
JOCKEY TO WATCH
Mikayla Weir has the ride of first starter Bonjour Rupert and her ride from the wide gate will be key on a horse that looks like it might be able to unleash late and pick them up.
THE INSIDE MAIL FOR DUBBO
RACE 1
All Words showed last time in that he got better as his prep went on and he’s third-up here and looking for a drier track. It’s worth noting that he wasn’t far off the likes of Golden Point and Primal Scream over a shorter trip so he’s come back well. Pee Dee hammered them six weeks ago at Scone but this is a fair step up. He can lead and make his own luck though. Cliffs Of Moher is very consistent and has two heavy track wins to his name. The Sledgehammer is well weighted here but hasn’t raced in two years and this might be a touch short.
Bet: All Words to win
RACE 2
Gibbed only beat four horses home first-up over a mile and now goes straight to 2200m which is probably a query but he’s under a new trainer now so new strategies aren’t a surprise and might work and this is a very weak race. Dunlee broke through at start 27 last time at Scone over this trip and he’s been racing over these types of trip for a while now and three weeks between runs is ideal. For Da Boys has been going well in slightly lesser grade.
Bet: Gibbed to win
RACE 3
Starane has race experience on his side here against a bunch of first starters and he’s drawn well coming off a close fifth placing on a Heavy 10 second-up and peaks now and a slightly better track probably helps. Mighty Minnie knows how to run a placing and should be getting a smother and looing to have the last crack at them. Aquarter looked the part in a recent winning barrier trial but has drawn out for his debut run here but should have the gate speed to get across. Fellow debutant Bonjour Rupert has also drawn out but might go back and look to swoop home.
Bet: Bonjour Rupert each way
RACE 4
Kora Magic doesn’t win out of turn but is super consistent and her win has come first-up and take her on trust here off a long break without a trial over this 1000m course. Overdefence drops back two grades from a Class 3 second placing three weeks ago so he’s well placed. Yorker finally broke through last time and is back to his home track where he’s placed at his only two runs. The Big Seal can do better this time with more luck.
Bet: Kora Magic to win
RACE 5
I’m Not Slew is a lightly-raced horse who has already won two races including on at provincial level and she should be making a bright return here off a nice barrier trial with the speed to overcome the awkward gate. Larynx is back in grade and looking for a kill and the claim just gets him in with a winnable weight. Entreat is well placed in this grade but should improve over more ground.
Bet: I’m Not Slew to win
RACE 6
Bridges To Babylon is much better placed here after running in a Class 2 Highway last time out. She’s back to maiden grade in the bush now and on her past three runs it looks like the mile is right for her. Royal Affair gets the cushy run here and a wet track won’t bother her and she won her only race at this track two starts back. Keep On Going has drawn out but performs on his home track and possibly sits outside the leader.
Bet: Bridges To Babylon to win
RACE 7
Brett Robb is certain both Winning Factor and Soul Night will break their maidens soon and Winning Factor’s 13-length sixth of six in a lead up trial shouldn’t discourage punters too much because speedster Remlaps Gem bolted along to win it. Dispute peaks now over more ground off a second placing second-up while Crystal Beanz gets in this light and should look to lead them.
Bet: Winning Factor each way
RACE 8
Vital Verse looks well placed with the clam and good barrier and at a track he loves. The wet ground also isn’t an issue nor his latest form. He just doesn’t win out of turn. Twittersphere has drawn out but likes to get back anyway so look for her surging late here after nearly nabbing them last time out. From a wide gate Dynastic likely also goes back but if there’s enough speed on, he can produce at the back end of the race too.
Bet: Vital Verse to win
RACE 9
Toulon Factor resumed with a win so is obviously going well but the stable wants a drying track even though he won on the heavy fresh. Madison Point has a great fresh record so trust that off no barrier trials as he looks to get up over more ground eventually. Gossip has been consistent down in grade so is coming up to this level at the right time but would still need to be at her best to win. Unlike his rivals, Nest In The Hills is on the way up and broke through here last time with the blinkers on.
Bet: Toulon Factor to win
