Raceday focus: Best bets, analysis for Pakenham on Thursday
Early favourite Silly Salmon should give the first race at Thursday’s Pakenham meeting a shake for local trainer Michael Huglin.
Herald Sun form analyst Brad Waters runs the rule over Thursday’s meeting at Pakenham.
BEST BET
SILLY SALMON (Race 1 No.5 – $2)
Not far away when resuming down the straight. Short odds for his second-up run but the form out of his Flemington run is too strong to ignore.
NEXT BEST
WAHOO FLYER (Race 4 No.12 – $2.60)
Wahoo Flyer hit the line hard when narrowly beaten first-up and will only be improved for that outing. Expecting her to race closer and be harder to hold out.
EURO DANDY (Race 7 No.5 – $5)
Euro Dandy was an impressive winner first-up last time in. Trialled well at Geelong and should go well fresh.
TAVISTORM (Race 8 No. 3 – $2.30)
Impressive debut winner in this track last start and looks capable of measuring up to this harder assignment. Stick with him.
VALUE BET
TWOTOCHOOSE (Race 2 No.6 – $8.50)
Showed ability in two runs last time in and had more time to mature. His jumpouts indicate a forward showing is on the cards first-up.
THE JOCKEY
MICHAEL DEE
Michael Dee has six rides at Pakenham and looks set to be in the finish with most mounts. VINLAGO (Race 1 No.7 – $6.50), DIAMOND DAGGER (Race 4 No.9 – $5), IMPOSING BROOK (Race 5 No.3 – $4.20), LORD WONDER (Race 6 No.1 – $6), CHALONNE PRINCESS (Race 7 No.8 – $5.50), TAVISTORM (Race 8 No.3 – $2.30)
THE WEEK AHEAD
The Valley holds Friday night’s card, which follows the Colac Cup meeting during the day. Yarra Valley also races on Saturday while the Buchan Cup picnic meeting is also scheduled. Sale and Werribee race on Sunday before a Stony Creek meeting on Monday.
