THE INSIDE MAIL FOR WYONG

RACE 1

Magnatear lost his rider at the top of the straight on debut at Canterbury on May 3 so we didn’t learn much about him. He has since been gelded and gets the blinkers and cross-over noseband on. Looked good winning a Beaumont trial on June 5. The margin was a head but he was kept under a hold. Amberina raced keenly when resuming with a two length sixth to Coriolis at Newcastle on June 3. Will take good improvement from the run. Luai boxed away for third to Orlabent on debut here two weeks ago. Emphatic Bel led and gave a kick but just couldn’t hold out Orlabent in that race here.

Bet: Box quinella/trifecta 1, 2, 5, 7

RACE 2

Highway Patrol has shown good natural speed to lead in each of his barrier trials and has kicked away to score convincingly. He can debut with a win. Huracanevo placed once from three starts in his first campaign but his efforts all had merit under varying circumstances. Made good ground when three lengths off Ramones on debut at Randwick. Led and was game when second to Rakomelo at his last run at Kembla in January. Skyhawk was just beaten by Notabadone here on June 1 and third placed Never Never Land has won since. Lysander will take benefit from his first-up run over 1200m at Kembla on May 23. He will appreciate stepping up to 1350m and gets the blinkers on.

Bet: Highway Patrol to win

RACE 3

Counter Move debuted in atrocious conditions at Hawkesbury last October when pressured in front and only just felt the pinch in the last 25m when third to Oceans One. Returned nine days later on a Good 3 and was just pipped by The Impact. Resumes here from a long break but showed she is ready with a smart trial win by over two lengths on the Beaumont track on June 5. Mr Kennedy has placed second in each of his three starts this campaign. The latest at Gosford on June 8 when beaten a short head by Never Never Land as a $1.35 fav. Gets the blinkers back on. Lord Bob and The Hussonator have trialled well.

Bet: Counter Move to win. Quinella 2, 4

RACE 4

Acceber was doing her best work late when fourth to Angel Of Light in a Benchmark 64 at Kembla on May 27 and third to Grebeni in a Benchmark 72 at Rosehill on June 3. Drops back to a Class 1 and drawn to settle a little closer. Special Day battled away when third to Ruby Flyer who was impressive winning the Class 1 Midway over 1600m at Hawkesbury on May 18. Special Day’s effort gave the indication she will enjoy stepping up to 2100m here and in-form rider Dylan Gibbons is on board. Tell The Future made a run from the 600m and was just beaten by Lumiere over 1850m at Newcastle on June 3.

Bet: Acceber to win. Quinella 5, 6

RACE 5

The Professor settled last on the fence before just being held up a touch when trying to get wide off the bend and eventually finishing fourth to Dawla. He was good through the line once he built momentum. With a touch more luck, will go close here. Occhiata was trapped out four wide at Newcastle on May 30 but kept battling away for fifth behind Gold Pattern. Drawn to get a much better run this time and expect her to be right in the finish. Align The Planets will be better for his first-up run and the step to 1600m will suit. He was a length and a quarter third to Arts at Kembla back on Feb 23.

Bet: The Professor to win

RACE 6

Angel Fund settled down near last before producing a terrific sprint along the fence to score by a length from Spiritchaser at Gosford over 1000m when resuming. Should settle closer from barrier 3 and the 1100m looks to suit her even better. Mount Warning won well first-up before a fourth to Waikiki after coming from last at Warwick Farm on May 17. Led last start but couldn’t hold out the fast finishing Deep Opinions at Newcastle on May 30. Spicy Hotpot resumes for new trainer Sara Ryan. Was a smart Canterbury winner in June last year. Won a trial on the Beaumont track on June 5. Ringdembells is racing well and can’t be taken lightly.

Bet: Angel Fund to win

RACE 7

Bokuden resumed from a 10 month break for new trainers Peter and Paul Snowden with a solid closing win from Cosmic Legend at Kembla on May 27. Should no trouble jumping to 1350m and will be closing strongly again. Edge Of Reward raced on speed and hit the front in the straight before being overhauled by the swoopers to finish sixth behind Pitavago when resuming at Newcastle on June 3. He will benefit from the run and drawn the inside is ideal. Victory Salute raced outside the leader and rolled to the lead on straightening before being claimed by Super at Newcastle on May 30. She was a winner Newcastle two starts earlier. She’s Independent tried hard when second to Star Impact last start.

Bet: Bokuden to win

RACE 8

Eve ‘N’ Ruby made steady ground from last when just over three lengths from Sizzling Cat when seventh on a Heavy 8 at Nowra two starts back before closing strongly for a length second to Pioneer Lass at the same course on June 1. Meets that mare 3kg better and can hopefully settle a little closer from the draw. Trust The Process ran on well along the fence for second behind Windshadow here two weeks ago. Pioneer Lass is racing well with two wins from her last three starts. Wide draw makes it tricky. Roccaforte is better than his last run. Worth though on previous placings at his previous three runs.

Bet: Eve ‘N’ Ruby each-way
