WYONG

BEST BET

Race 4, No.6: RAMONES

He has shown plenty of promise with three seconds in his first preparation and they were all in town. He’s well placed here fresh and trialled like he was ready to win.

NEXT BEST

Race 6, No.10: MEOD

She led and fought hard to win on debut. She is back to the scene of the crime with an important gear change to help her settle better.

Race 5: 1, 2, 4, 9

JOCKEY TO WATCH

Tom Sherry has three rides for Michael Freedman - Ishani, Ponca and Meod - and all of them have the form and right barriers to win.

QUEANBEYAN

BEST BET

Race 4, No.1: TROOPER KNUCKLE

He’s shooting for three straight after winning his past two at this track. Going up in trip should suit at this stage in his preparation.

TRAINER TO WATCH

The team of Barbara Joseph and Paul and Matt Jones look to have a few winning hopes including Merc, Cut To Pieces and Cash Register.

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR WYONG

RACE 4

Ramones has run three straight seconds to date and one of those placings was behind the smart Kibou. He’s first-up on his home track and has trialled nicely for this. Ishani has a better gate now which helps. She too has good previous form behind In Secret and she has to be better suited to 1000m now. Anavinci has drawn a good gate for her debut and went over the line in her latest trial with a horse that ran well on debut. Cardone wasn’t knocked around in a barrier trial but does have a wide gate.

Bet: Ramones to win

RACE 5

Invictus Lad came from nowhere to win on debut at Gosford over this trip two weeks ago. He was huge late but he’ll need to be closer to the leader in the final 100m to win up in grade. Shines runs well fresh. He’s had six weeks off and a winning trial in between runs so he’s got to be right in this. Sebring Sunset has a wide gate but he likes to get back and run on so look for him late but is this tight track for him? California Press only broke through at start nine last time but he’s improved a lot this time in so hopefully the penny has dropped. Ponca was scratched from a tougher race for this.

Bet: Shines to win

RACE 6

Meod mustered early speed to lead all-the-way here on debut over the same trip. She was soft on the line which bodes well for the step up in grade and she has a decent gate. Tsarina Sophia is also trying to stay undefeated after a debut win. She’s had a spell since the victory and trialled pretty well so the expectations will be high from the good draw. Boomsong should be on the speed and dropping back a tough in trip won’t hurt. This track might just suit.

Bet: Meod to win

RACE 7

Da Nang Star was scratched from a city race to come back to this track where he ran second last start. He will come across them and possibly sit outside the leader or lead. Will he be vulnerable late though? Lady Superspy will be better for her two runs back. She’s won once and placed two more times from runs over a mile so she’s well placed. Handsome should be better this time in at his second Australia prep.

Bet: Lady Superspy to win

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR QUEANBEYAN

RACE 4

Trooper Knuckle shoots for three straight wins. His past two victories have been at this track which is very important and this is a weak race. You either love Queanbeyan or you don’t. Noble Exception also ran well here last start when third and he’s performed well second-up before. Bracewell likes to be on the speed which helps at this track and he’s in good form at the moment so should go close if he holds his current form. Cut To Pieces has won here before and has a good team behind him.

Bet: Trooper Knuckle to win

RACE 5

Rockabarton Road is trained here and presents third-up after catching the eye at her first two runs this prep. She is up in trip now which suits and she can be closer in the run. Sooboogeliscious is down in the weights. She got terrible luck last start when held up for much of the straight. With clear air this time she can pounce and win. Battle Award has run second twice in her past three runs so she’s going well enough to test them out. Lynber hasn’t been far off the winner this time in.

Bet: Sooboogeliscious to win

RACE 6

Cash Register has either won or run half a length off the winner this prep and will stalk the speed so look for him late. Yallah Sunrise is chasing a hat-trick but has won two lesser races so she needs to step up again. Garratt Road looks to lead them and will be much fitter for the first-up 1600m win without a barrier trial. Big Steve loves racing here and has only missed a top three finish once in five runs at the track. Tornac doesn’t win out of turn but is more than up to his grade and looks ready to run this trip at his first attempt.

Bet: Cash Register to win

RACE 7

Artie Bee improved greatly to place here two weeks ago and shouldn’t be going backwards at this time in his prep. Lamelo has been off the scene for a year but has trialled nicely under a new trainer who no doubt has him ready to go fresh over 900m. All Prophet is a market watch first-up after previously racing in Queensland. Inessa is the same off a 14-week spell after failing on debut at Goulburn. She should be coming back an improved horse.

Bet: Artie Bee to win
