THE INSIDE MAIL FOR WYONG

RACE 1

Star Legacy has placed in half of his six starts. The Gary Portelli-trained gelding came as close as he has so far last start when finishing a narrow second over 1350m at this venue. He hit the line like a horse that is ready for the mile now and should be in the finish again. Venetian Blue is his main rival. She was a beaten $1.45 favourite last start but will derive plenty of benefit from that 1400m assignment. United Front gets the blinkers this time and will be suited by the mile assignment.

Bet: Star Legacy to win. Quinella 2,3,5.

RACE 2

Mirror Queen wears the black and yellow of breeding powerhouse Arrowfield Stud. She went under as $2.90 favourite last time but was jumping from 1400m to 2100m in that second at Tamworth. Expecting her to be fitter for the staying assignment this time and take some beating. Youthfull was scratched at Warwick Farm on Wednesday in favour of this easier assignment. She’s third up now and drawn to get every favour from barrier one. Dreamdeel has been around the money at his past three and is among the chances again.

Bet: Mirror Queen to win.

RACE 3

Choice Legend was a $260,000 yearling purchase back in 2021 but has taken some time to get to the races. The Les Bridge-trained filly showed some promise in her only run earlier this preparation, narrowly going down over 1200m at Newcastle. She can certainly go one better here with the benefit of that race day experience. Who’s In Winny returns from a break with one promising trial under her belt. She only placed once in six starts before now but could be set for sharp improvement this prep. Agnodice can settle closer this time after an okay first up performance from back in the pack.

Bet: Choice Legend to win.

RACE 4

Supreme Wind was first past the post first up from a break at Kembla Grange before losing the result in the stewards’ room. There was still a lot of merit in that fresh performance despite the result not going in his favour. He showed a lot of tenacity and will take some running down again here. Yamba’s Award was outstanding last start at this track and trip but just found one better. A repeat of that performance will have her going very close again. Gold Something toughed it out on speed in the same race and wasn’t far away either.

Bet: Supreme Wind to win.

RACE 5

Surrenders is returning from a 21 week spell. The Godolphin filly should see the chequered flag rather than the white one here. She was placed in two of her first three starts and looks ready to break the maiden off a couple of nice trials in the lead up to her return. Chilada certainly hasn’t done anything wrong in the lead up to her debut. Two recent trial wins would indicate she has the potential to shed her maiden tag easily. Salaasel is better than what she showed first up and can put in an improved display.

Bet: Surrenders to win.

RACE 6

Oxford Tycoon is a home tracker than excels on his local track. The Kim Waugh-trained galloper has won both of his starts here and returns to Wyong after a pair of runs in Midway grade that were only fair. This is easier where he gets the good draw and 59.5kg after Jasper Franklin’s claim. Princess Amira never went around a runner when winning last start at this track. The draw in barrier nine make her life harder this time but she’s talented enough. All Machiavellian needs a firm track to show his best and can put in an improved showing if the rain doesn’t arrive.

Bet: Oxford Tycoon to win.

RACE 7

Diva Diva gets the blinkers first time after failing to fire a shot last start at Warwick Farm. She was a good winner at Kembla Grange before that and a repeat of that performance would see her right in this. You’ll have to take her on trust but she’s at a nice each way price to be given a second chance. Resistible would be the top pick if she didn’t have barrier 17 next to her name. She went close in her past two but had a far superior draw in both of those runs. Takara Star is chasing a winning hat-trick following a pair of Muswellbrook victories and is drawn to get her chance from the inside.

Bet: Diva Diva each way.

RACE 8

Strombus finished within half a length of the winner in city grade last time at Warwick Farm. That’s good enough form to be winning this albeit, he will have to overcome the wide gate (12). Provided Chad Schofield finds cover, he should fighting out the finish again. Skylight Song returns to the scene of his maiden win at the same track and trip. He’s still only young and should be able to go through his grades judging off that performance. Buillt has been scratched from races several times since his maiden win but is up to this level.

Bet: Strombus to win.
