WARWICK FARM
BEST BET
Race 7, No.9: CAMINO REAL
The James Cummings-trained mare is putting together a nice record and returned in fine fashion with a dominant win two weeks ago and is well placed on a likeable wet track.
NEXT BEST
Race 6, No.6: SHOHEI
She’s up in grade now so this is harder but she won first-up at Canterbury in fine style to suggest she will handle the step up.
QUADDIE
Race 6: 1, 6, 8, 10
Race 7: 3, 9, 12
Race 8: 3, 5, 6, 8
Race 9: 1, 4, 14, 19
JOCKEY TO WATCH
Jason Collett has picked up a few good Chris Waller rides like Kazou, Hollywood North and Political Debate. Way To The Stars can also win the last for him.
DUBBO
BEST BET
Race 5, No.1: DALAVIN
He has drawn wide but he also can’t stop winning and shoots for five-straight now and did beat a horse three runs back that’s come out since and won in town.
TRAINER TO WATCH
Tracey Bartley could have a good day with Irish Kisses at Warwick Farm while the likes of Onemore Sapphire and Defeat look well placed at Dubbo.
THE INSIDE MAIL FOR WARWICK FARM
RACE 6
Shohei put herself into the race first-up at Canterbury and was never really threatened and looked to have something left in the tank for this which is a good sign now that she’s up in grade. Coco Rox gets into this with a winnable weight thanks to the claim and she trialled up in comfortable fashion and has the right barrier to go close. Stablemate Hey Little Sister won on debut at Gosford before being put away and she ran in behind some smart ones in her latest barrier trial and she’s only got 53kg to lug here. Acappella Sun is knocking on the door and Tommy Berry is back on.
Bet: Shohei to win
RACE 7
Irish Kisses really caught the eye late first-up at Rosehill two weeks ago when being ridden cold and that might be the plan again from a wide gate and she can finish it off well in favourable track conditions. Camino Real won as an odds-on chance at Hawkesbury first-up and she should be well favoured again to win from a cushy gate with 2kg less to carry. Hard to beat. Bubba will provide a stiff challenge if she gets some luck from a wide gate.
Bet: Quinella 9, 12
RACE 8
Williamsburg came from the rear to gobble them up in the Dulcify Stakes last start and if the track gets any further rain, it only helps his chances because he’s a real swimmer. Match Latte may be ridden positive in a race that might be lacking speed on paper. He ran second to eventual Caulfield Guineas winner Golden Mile last start which is obviously top form. Sharp ‘N’ Smart comes back over from New Zealand and nearly pulled off two Stakes wins in Brisbane in the winter so he’s up to Aussie form. Owen County will run out a strong mile.
Bet: Williamsburg to win
RACE 9
Mars Mission probably takes a sit from a wide gate and he’s won here at his only attempt and has a first-up win to his name so he’s well placed here. Washington Towers could be the value runner here if the track is in the heavy range. Shadow Devil isn’t a certain starter but if he gets a run he’s in the right form to win this although he will need luck from the back of the pack. Way To The Stars is undefeated from two fresh runs and has won both his barrier trials leading into this to look for a top run.
Bet: Way To The Stars to win
THE INSIDE MAIL FOR DUBBO
RACE 5
Dalavin is set to start odds on after winning his past four races but he does have a wide gate and there’s not much distance to the first turn here. He does have the gate speed to get across and loves wet ground so with a touch of luck he’s hard to beat. Appalachian has drawn much better in four and gets the suck run in behind the speed and handles a wet track and has the ability to win this at his best. Matthew Palmer is riding Foreign Brother 1kg over which isn’t a surprise given he’s his regular rider and he loves wet tracks and has been very consistent for some time now.
Bet: Dalavin to win
RACE 6
Deel Street races best at her home track and won here over this distance on a heavy track last start in this grade. This is the same race for her but she goes up 2.5kg in weight but it shouldn’t matter too much given the dominance of her win four weeks ago. Coopella ran second to Deel Street last start carrying 3.5kg more. This time, it’s only 0.5kg more so she can make this one closer and she’s on the way up so the tables can be turned. Wunambal won a Class 2 last time off a 29-week spell without a barrier trial so he can only be better again.
Bet: Coopella to win
RACE 7
Caesars Palace is a city Saturday winner and loves wet ground and comes into this off a winning barrier trial off a five-week freshen up and has superior form to these. Mayfair Spirit is an interesting runner who has been brought up from Victoria with decent form and the stable is very good at placing horses for target races like this. Onemore Sapphire is also very well placed here. He won the Port Macquarie Cup Prelude but skipped the strong Port Macquarie Cup Big Dance qualifier for this one and he’s won four times over a mile.
Bet: Caesars Palace to win
RACE 8
Oakfield Storm has an inside gate and won first-up last time in no doubt he has been prepped up to do well here off two barrier trials and he shouldn’t have any excuses. Toulon Factor shoots for three-straight and he’s won at this track and is ready for 1400m now third-up where he should peak. Defeat needs a drying track while Petain thrives on heavy ground and is racing well but does step up in grade here.
Bet: Oakfield Storm to win
