SCONE

BEST BET

Race 7 No.8: THE MYSTERY GUY

The John Ramsey-trained gelding has only run one bad race and that was in the Stan Fox at start two. Resumes at home without a trial. Market watch essential.

NEXT BEST

Race 3 No.2: TIVA BAY

Has finished with a medal 12 times in 19 starts; just two wins but this in his range.

VALUE BET

Race 4 No.13: OMIANS

Ran well on debut and wasn’t as bad as it looked when she resumed here on June 13. Fitter now.

QUADDIE

Race 6: 3, 4, 14

Race 7: 8

Race 8: 2, 5, 9, 15

Race 9: 4, 10

JOCKEY TO FOLLOW

Aaron Bullock’s winning strike rate this season is 26 per cent. Incredible.

MORUYA

BEST BET

Race 4 No.6: PRETTY EYED

Nothing at all wrong with her two career starts each side of the spell. Gives the impression 1200m suits.

NEXT BEST

Race 5 No.7: REALLY SERIOUS

Came away late when she won at Nowra and might well keep progressing for a bit longer.

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR SCONE

RACE 6

Zippo Idea is from the 19th and last crop of More Than Ready. Her grandam is Toorak winner Allez Wonder. Her third dam is Perth Cup winner, Luna Tudor. Debuts at home off a fantastic trial win at Muswellbrook. Has a bright future. A Shooting Duck is nominated for Muswellbrook on Tuesday. Going to run well wherever she goes off the trial. Stablemate Distant has finished runner-up at two of her three runs. Has the perfect draw to capitalise on her speed. Super Story and Boomista are in the mix.

Bet: Zippo Idea to win

RACE 7

The Mystery Guy has raced eight times for a win and four placings. As a matter of fact, his only ‘bad’ run in all that time was at his second start when he went around in the Stan Fox Stakes no less. The son of Vancouver resumes at home with no public trial but he is in good hands. Market the best guide. Yirrkala is trained by Brett Cavanough is a shandy away from 1000 wins as a trainer. This filly broke her maiden here at home and has been good every time since. The Luke Pepper-trained Hardy has the highest benchmark rating in the race (by far).

Bet: The Mystery Guy to win, quinella 8, 12

RACE 8

Ostracised has an honourable C.V, namely 13 starts for two wins and seven placings. The Cody Morgan-trained gelding caught the eye when he clocked in fifth of 14 at Gunnedah in the 1000m Lightning Handicap. Has raced well any time he has come to Scone. Impactful Miss has been nominated for Wyong on Tuesday. Go well wherever she ends up. Former Queensland housed gelding Lost Media has won both of his starts for Armidale trainer Stirling Osland. Oceans One (a dual acceptor on the card) is a major player.

Bet: Ostracised to win

RACE 9

Miss Bigglesworth had her first three starts for Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou and was okay without being much more than that. Her last two have been for Jake Hull (at Gosford), winning at Dubbo followed by a third at Port Macquarie in that is surely a stronger than usual Class 1. Martedi is a Paul Messara-trained brother to Kayobi who was too good for a subsequent winner, Chestime, last start. Commands attention. Silent Russian won here at his first visit on June 12. L’Esperance Rock is the value runner.

Bet: Miss Bigglesworth each-way, box trifecta/first four: Nos. 1, 4, 10, 12

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR MORUYA

RACE 5

Really Serious is owned and bred by Bob Haire who trained this mare’s grandam All Angels who beat Cross Swords and others in the 1996 Australia Day Cup. Really Serious was super impressive winning a 1600m Class 1 at Nowra on June 29. This looks the logical next step for her. Rent A Rock has won twice at this same track and distance. His fifth of 10 at Nowra last time was better than it reads on paper. Lockup The Kittens and Chaotic Beauty are easy to like and hard to split on their last meeting.

Bet: Really Serious to win or if scratched, Rent A Rock each-way

RACE 6

Oakey’s Choice drew 17 in one of the best Highways you would see this Saturday so presumably he is going to run here instead where he has barrier 3. He is quite a talented horse actually with two wins and a second from five starts, Goes super fresh and his trial was just awesome. For the record, Oakey’s Choice beat Dragons Breath in that Nowra heat but he went pretty darn well too don’t worry. Tulla Park doesn’t know how to run a bad race. Iconic Dame has won two of three first-up.

Bet: Oakey’s Choice to win, quinella 4, 7

Heromania can continue his good form at Moruya on Friday. Picture: Bradley Photos

RACE 7

Heromania has been in great form this preparation; two seconds either side of his easy all-the-way win at the Sapphire Coast on May 7. The son of Von Costa De Hero hasn’t raced since May 25 for one reason or another but still very easy to like. My Blue Jeans lines up for his 96th start on Friday having gone close to winning his 95th in that 1400m Bm58 at Nowra. The Danny Williams-trained son of Barbados has some compelling numbers at this track and trip. Howling Victory was ‘okay to the line’ first-up under a very big weight. This race seems a lot more winnable.

Bet: Heromania to win

RACE 8

Rouge Lune, that’s Red Moon in English, is a lightly-raced and promising three-year-old from the Natalie Jarvis stable. The son of Puissance De Lune has three starts at his first preparation and was good in all of them but importantly, each one was better than the last one. His win before the spell was absolutely emphatic. His danger could easily come from within if his stablemate Quire runs to her best. This will be her sixth start of Friday and the fourth time she has jumped from barrier one. Take note her only win so far was here. Seal Team Six was $51 when he won first-up but maybe it wasn’t a fluke. We’ll see.

Bet: Rouge Lune to win
