ROSEHILL

BEST BET

Race 6, No.15: ALBERICH

He was given a break after a good debut win against a horse which is rated by its team then ran a close second to the smart Flag Of Honour. He’s well placed here.

NEXT BEST

Race 4, No.1: WILLINGA RUFIO

He went to 1800m second-up at this track last time in so Mark Newnham is sticking to that plan. He should lead all the way and get the job done despite the big weight.

VALUE BET

Race 2, No.2: TRIBECA STAR

He went around over the odds on debut when running a close second at Warwick Farm and is probably overs again despite sneaking under the radar on debut.

QUADDIE

Race 4: 1, 5, 13, 14

Race 5: 8, 12, 14, 15

Race 6: 11, 14, 15

Race 7: 1, 5, 6, 11

JOCKEY TO WATCH

Brenton Avdulla might score a race-to-race double with Tribeca Star and Just A Jedi and don’t rule him out riding three in a row with Coppleson going great.

TRAINER TO WATCH

Team Hawkes look to have two progressive horses here with Golden Age and Mars Mission and the ride of Tommy Berry on the latter is key from a wide gate.

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR ROSEHILL

RACE 1

The punters think Kazalark can win here on debut from a decent enough gate and Collett trialled him up last time out. But McDonald was on him in the barrier trial before and he now is riding Stylised for Godolphin. He wasn’t on him on debut at Warwick Farm but like everyone, he caught the eye in running on from last and will take plenty out of it from a much better gate now so look for him to put in a top run. Iron Man sat back in his latest trial and really came home well when not pushed. We’ll really see what’s under the engine on debut here and Pike is on from barrier one. Perhaps he sits in behind the speed and then unleashes big time.

Bet: Iron Man to win

RACE 2

McDonald sticks with another Godolphin runner here in Pereille who he rode into a close third on debut at Warwick Farm in what should shape as a good form race with a big opinion of the first two over the line. He had to make wide run that day and still matched it with the first two over the line. The issue is the second placed horse Tribeca Star is also in this race and was stronger on the line. Hard to hold here surely. Golden Age had a winning trial which isn’t always the strategy by Team Hawkes but he looked the part in it and has drawn well on debut under a gun jockey. Call Di was driven through late to run second in a trial and that might be the plan again on debut from a wide draw.

Bet: Tribeca Star to win

RACE 3

Just A Jedi would’ve won in another stride last time at Warwick Farm over 2140m and he’s had a good preparation for 2400m here. It might just be the key to him winning. Boyszee is consistent but did get beat but Lord Desanimaux last time which is a form query while Father’s Day shoots for four-straight after barely holding out Just A Jedi last time and has the blinkers on for the first time which is always a big deal. Brown Thomas is decent odds here and after a nice run which helps his cause at 2400m. Inuwashi might win now that he’s up in trip too in what’s an open race.

Bet: Just A Jedi to win

RACE 4

Willinga Rufio deserves to be favourite here off a top win fresh at Warwick Farm last time out against a horse that had won two of its past three and had fitness on its side and he’s won a Saturday race here. John Sargent was looking for a return to form from Owen County last time and he did that with a strong finish at Canterbury behind a winner that bolted in last Saturday so $15 looks nice. Chris Waller has brought Jupitus up from Melbourne off a strong win and McDonald jumps on from a decent gate and give him the run of the race.

Bet: Willinga Rufio to win

RACE 5

Amati will be better for the fresh run and runs at home now with the top trainer/jockey combination behind her and any rain would help. Vivid Flash just missed first-up but did get an easy run in transit so is she a false favourite? Irish Kisses and Sunrise Ruby make it easier for the rest because they looked two good hopes here. Vivid Flash is an improver second-up after running well for a close second fresh and Hugh Bowman sticks from a good gate.

Bet: Amati to win

RACE 6

James McDonald has been on Narito in all three runs to date and they’ve combined to win twice before running into the red-hot Democracy Manifest last time when not getting much room in the straight. Stablemate Alberich is back after starting a well backed horse in a close race when second behind Flag Of Honour who went well in the Ming Dynasty last time so the from is there. Stray came from well back to run a nice fourth in what should be a good form race in a higher grade than this and has an inside gate this time.

Bet: Alberich to win

RACE 7

Mars Mission is well supported first-up but has drawn 15 from the 1200m Rosehill start which is very hard to overcome. He’s a gelding now so should be a much better animal but will the gate get him beat? Zarastro has also drawn out which isn’t ideal because he looked well placed at this level. James McDonald is the man to get the job done from there though. Other top hopes Shadow Devil and Shalailed have also drawn the carpark. Maybe it sets it up for Omni Man to get a cushy run from the inside gate and not work as hard as the more favoured runners.

Bet: Omni Man to win
