THE INSIDE MAIL FOR KENSINGTON
RACE 1
Chris Waller will saddle up six of the eight runners in the opener and reckon Buillt will be the pick of them. The I Am Invincible gelding‘s record of two placings from seven starts might not look like much but of those runs have come on unsuitable heavy tracks. His most recent trial suggests he’s ready for a big return. Stablemate Gago lost the compass when rounding the bend at Canterbury last time. Assess him on his previous runs and he has to be a chance. Outlawed has finished second at three of her four starts so she’s certainly among the chances again.
Bet: Buillt to win.
RACE 2
Capital Heart is a son of Golden Slipper winner Capitalist that can claim a maiden juvenile win of his own here. The John O‘Shea-trained colt wasn’t far away over the same trip last start when second to the highly-promising Introducing. His much practice should hold the key third-up. Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott could have another nice juvenile in Soldier Of Rome. His trials have been good and a forward showing on debut should be expected. Storm The Ramparts has placed in both runs and can feature in the money again.
Bet: Capital Heart to win.
RACE 3
Ballroom Bella is a $320,000 daughter of Russian Revolution lining up for her debut. Like her dad, this filly looks blessed with plenty of speed. She showed just as much in her most recent trial when dominating from the front and running away from them. Gold Lover did enough on debut at Hawkesbury when runner up to a subsequent city placegetter. She should get herself every chance close to the speed. Expecting Clea, a daughter of multiple Group 1 winning mare Streama, to be doing her best work late.
Bet: Ballroom Bella to win.
RACE 4
Chartwell can go one better in an open affair. The daughter of Churchill finished within a length of the winner in a second at Wyong last time. There looks to be no shortage of speed in this and the Annabel Neasham-trained galloper can settle back in the pack and run over the top of them late. Queen Of Yuma returns from a 19-week break after showing some promise in her sole run last prep. She comes in without a trial so watch betting moves. The returning Just An Upstart should be pretty forward with two trials under his belt.
Bet: Chartwell to win.
RACE 5
Form around last Saturday’s Randwick Guineas runner up Lindermann has Kokora really well placed to add another win to his tally. The John O’Shea-trained gelding was a competitive second to the Group 1 placegetter last start and looks suited by the step up to a mile this time. Jupitus won at this venue last time and is a winner second-up before. The one gate could be rocks or diamonds for him as he tends to get back. Coppleson should be an improver second-up over a longer trip.
Bet: Kokora, Jupitus quinella.
RACE 6
Arbitration has been a great performer fresh at her past two preparations and both her trials indicate that should continue her. The Godolphin mare won first-up last time with a perfect draw and J-Mac aboard for her latest fresh tilt. She can win again. Hypothetical is a pacesetter that can overcome the wide draw with her racing pattern. The booking of Tim Clark should be a huge plus for her chances. Boston City can run above his double figure quote with just 52.5kg on his back.
Bet: Arbitration to win. Quinella 3, 5.
RACE 7
Ka Bling has built a more than credible record of three wins and seven placings from 15 starts. The Capitalist gelding is certainly no star but has more than enough ability to win a race like this. He comes in three weeks between runs after finishing a narrow second at the track and trip last time. Reformist is racing terrific and has placed at all three runs this prep. Five weeks between runs is the concern. Saveadateforme will likely be the horse to follow from this and will be getting warm late.
Bet: Ka Bling to win.
RACE 8
Cholante is a really progressive filly making her return. A winner first and second-up last preparation, she was thrown in the deep end in stakes grade midway through the spring but came up short. This is significantly easier than those assignments and her most recent trials says she’s ready to go fresh. Portray is another promising filly that has been tested in stakes races. The Godolphin talent has won three of her seven starts and gets the gun draw for her first-up test. Super Bright will go back from the draw and rattle home later.
Bet: Cholante to win.
