THE INSIDE MAIL FOR KEMBLA GRANGE

RACE 1

Monte Out‘N’About was knocked down for $475,000 as a yearling at the 2021 Inglis Australian Easter Sale. The daughter of I Am Invincible is now a three-year-old but steps out for her debut and can put her best foot forward. She wasn’t overly taxed in her only trial and finds a maiden on home turf without a clear standout. Kunnese had trialled up really well before he was only fair on debut at Hawkesbury. He may have a legitimate excuse as the rain had started to bucket down. An improved showing here wouldn’t surprise. Aqua will find this much easier than his maiden run.

Verdict: Monte Out‘N’About to win

RACE 2

King Colorado also has nominations for Rosehill and Newcastle on Saturday but is drawn to get every chance should connections head this way. The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained colt has drawn the inside and his trials indicate he could be a colt with quite some ability. He only needs to bring that to race day to be a big chance here. Fightertown has yet to live up to his $1.1m price tag but will find this easier than anything he has faced. He’s coming off a flop in the Baillieu however has trialled well since. The King has the benefit of match practice in tougher grade than this.

Verdict: King Colorado to win.

RACE 3

Mindspace is a lightly-raced gelding that meets an open Benchmark 68. The son of So You Think is still learning his craft but certainly showed he has some upside when breaking his maiden two back over the 1850m. He’s run a solid enough third since and should be rock hard fit for this assignment. Funambulist will be an improver stepping up in trip second up from a break. He handles the wet conditions so should have no trouble in the ground. Roccaforte is racing consistently and should be in the finish again.

Verdict: Mindspace to win. Boxed trifecta 1, 2, 7, 8

RACE 4

Lady Gold can make a winning return from a break. She’s trialled well alongside Group 1 winner Duais albeit on a synthetic track. Her first up run last prep she ran a credible second over the same trip and expecting her to make a similarly forward return in this. Iron Man didn’t run up to his $2.90 quote last time when fourth. It wouldn’t surprise to see him capitalise on the two gate here and bounce back. Burrowa looks ready to make sharp improvement in his second preparation.

Verdict: Lady Gold to win

RACE 5

Trainer Joseph Pride has three runners and leaning towards Little Cointreau. The son of former Godolphin star Contributer returns from a freshen up with a couple of quiet trials under his belt. He will be looking for further than this but should one of the strongest late. Stablemate Silent Raindrops has placed in three of her four starts. She should be peaking now third up and gets every chance again from barrier two. Princess Mary accepted in two races on the Kembla card but drew bad in both. She will get back and rattle home regardless.

Verdict: Little Cointreau to win

RACE 6

Resistible ticks a few important boxes in a competitive affair. The Michael Freedman-trained galloper has found one better at her past two including a narrow second at this track and trip last time on March 28. It’s hard not to expect her settle close to the speed from barrier three and be fighting out the finish. Chopin is third up now and ready to peak. He battled on OK to finish among the placings last time at this venue and faces another rain affected surface here. Fast Response would have to be taken on trust but is better than what he showed last start.

Verdict: Resistible to win

RACE 7

Princess Mary can return a winner if connections head this direction. She was doing her best work late in her only run over 1300m and looked to be a nice staying type in the marking. The 1500m first up is a fine option for that reason with 1000m trial win in the lead up set to have her ready for the test. The Englishman has placed in three of his five starts. He will be in the market again but he will need to show more will to win. We Don’t Roam continues to race consistently and will win one of these eventually.

Verdict: Princess Mary to win

RACE 8

Nautical Miss is a home tracker that can overcome a wide gate. The Ross McConville-trained mare got home from last to finish midfield in Midway grade last time and should be doing the same here in easier grade over more ground. She was a narrow runner up in a similar race at this venue when second up last prep. Invincible Legend is an obvious danger on the strength of his impressive last start maiden win. He can land in the perfect spot from the inside draw. Prize Draw will handle the going and is rock hard fit.

Verdict: Nautical Miss to win
