RACE 1
Stanislaus is a James Cummings-trained son of Exceed And Excel and the fourth foal of Godolphin’s 2014 Gimcrack winner Calaverite whose third foal is none other than Golden Mile. As for this colt, he was $10 into $9 on debut in the Golden Gift and ran creditably enough on the day finishing two and three-quarter lengths behind his superior stablemate Barber. Capital Boss is a Ron Quinton-trained Capitalist colt who has trialled really well. In fact, he beat Summer Loving fair and square in the last heat at Randwick. Broadway Bouncer has claims on the score of his two excellent trials. Drawn well too.

RACE 2
Nine down to four here after the scratchings. Sports Legend, as his name suggests is a Bon Ho-owned gelding and trained by Les Bridge. This horse was a $200,000 Magic Millions Yearling purchase. He is certainly bred to gallop being by Deep Field out of Twist Tops. Spelled after those two ‘sixths;’ at the first prep; won both trials and won them very impressively indeed. Deep Fury, the one on the Testashadow colours, is a Canterbury placegetter last prep and caught the eye in his Warwick Farm trial on Jan 30. Cable Tie was an honourable third to Sports Legend in that trial 8-days back,

RACE 3
November Rhythm is a Matthew Smith-trained gelding by Dream Ahead, the same sire as the stable’s unbeaten Headwall. Still on the breeding side of things, this Hobartville Stud-bred and owned gelding’s fourth dam is the 1979 Golden Slipper winner, Century Miss. Won both his trials and won them like a horse that is ready and able to win first-up. Hedge Fund was tipped out after two highly encouraging runs at Goulburn and Moruya in Dec 21 and Jan 22. Obviously been off the scene for a while but he looked the part winning a trial at home at Kembla 6-days ago. Rolene was left at the post first-up at Bathurst. Don’t undersell her. She goes okay.

RACE 4
Dear Jewel is a hugely valuable filly given her peerless pedigree. She is a Snitzel out of Prophet Jewel which makes her a half-sister to the Caulfield Guineas winner Divine Prophet and also to the now outstanding sire, Proisir. As for her own talents, Dear Jewel trialled exceedingly well before she went to Newcastle and chased down Shalatin. Big watch on Sunchaser here in the Stu Ramsey colours. She has raced five times for a win and three placings; granted in easier races than this but gee whiz she has been trialling well since she moved down to Warwick Farm.
Bet: Dear Jewel to win, exacta 5 to beat 7
RACE 5
Sequestered also has a ticket to race at Kensington on Wednesday where he has drawn better than what he has on Tuesday at Hawkesbury. Big chance no matter where they go with him. Villa Tino is a Tracey Bartley-trained colt by Supido who, by the way, is doing a great job at stud for Widden as it happens. As for Villa Tino himself, he has raced over 1000m then 1250m to open the new campaign and hit the line like a horse who may well peak at 1400m third time out. Dakarai is now a Chris Waller-trained colt having switched from the Wendy Kelly stables in Victoria where he placed at three of his four starts. Rosehill trial was okay. He is nominated for Canterbury on Friday. Edgewise is betting close to a win.
Bet: Sequestered to win or if scratched Villa Tino each-way
RACE 6
Viennoiserie is a Gerry Harvey-owned and bred daughter of I Am Invincible whose C.V of seven starts for one win and a third doesn’t quite do her justice. She’s no Best Western or Royal Descent but she has been a bit unlucky here and there, mostly due to barriers and such. If she ever reproduces that win on debut at Gosford, look out. Lambdoma Energy is a mega-consistent chestnut from the Kristen Buchanan stables at Wyong. The son of Written Tycoon is ‘3123;’ coming into this and just in case you missed it, rest assured that he was mighty unlucky last start at Gosford. Barrier 1 did him no good at all. Dame Cartland, the half-sister to King’s Gambit, has obvious claims.
Bet: Viennosierie to win
RACE 7
The Replicant has 10 starts for one win and six placings (that is to say, consistent but costly) but you would nearly have to be in his camp here after that absolutely fantastic second at Kembla. I mean, the winner, Jewellery, is at least midweek class, probably more and here’s The Replicant absolutely eating up the ground behind her from way back in the pack. Perfect race, perfect draw here. Eyeque led and faded to finish fourth in the field of eight at Kembla on Jan 31. That was 1500m though so maybe back in trip (and not leading) might see him bounce back to his better self. Turn Up The Night has claims.

RACE 8
Field Marshal is hands down the most interesting horse racing all day. Unbeaten and hugely impressive in his two starts, both of them were for John Thompson, the colt is with Chris Waller now. I am just saying for the record sake that he is entered for the Randwick Guineas, Rosehill Guineas and ATC Derby. How good is he? Can’t wait to fast forward a year and find out. I made him best bet but watch out Viking Power doesn’t win this at $50. Outside of those two, chances must go to Alinghi’s grandson Rocstar Boy and Reggie’s Folly.
