THE INSIDE MAIL FOR GOSFORD

RACE 1

Zoustar filly Starmae had to quickly change course and ducked back inside the green Shako before diving late to just miss by a short head on debut over 900m at Newcastle on June 24. Gets a nice run from a similar draw and stepping up to 1000m looks ideal. Getty was safely held as an odds-on fav first-up at Muswellbrook before a two length third to Estriella here on June 22. Expect him to figure prominently. Bojangles is by first season sire Showtime from stakes placed Hetty Heights. Nice trial win at Wyong recently. Keep safe. Daysee Doom’s daughter Fameux has battled away to place third in both runs back from a spell.

Bet: Starmae to win

RACE 2

Cool Duke was put away after winning a Warwick Farm trial on Jan 3. Sent forward to lead and kicked away to win his Canterbury trial by over two lengths on the bit on June 26. Can make a winning start to his race career. Catchy Tunes went around at $81 on debut but run a handy fourth to Misty Dream here on June 22 after being held up near the turn. Champ De Mars ran on well from worse than midfield along the inside when fifth at Nowra on debut. Beatlemania ran on well for a length and three-quarter third to Fearless Thinking on a heavy Beaumont track back in January. Close second in a trial here on June 28.

Bet: Cool Duke to win

RACE 3

I Stole It boxed on when seventh beaten just over a length by Bokuden after racing outside the leader when resuming at Kembla on May 27. Freshened and trialled before a length and a half second to stablemate Biographer after giving him five lengths on the bend. Step up to 1200m should suit. Little Baia has just found one better in each of her three runs back from a spell. Latest was behind Kangaroo Court at Kembla on June 27 with stakes placed Magic Carpet in third. Nanshe was a close third at Cranbourne before a spell. Keep safe first-up. Denman Star was a touch unlucky first-up at Goulburn and raced greenly last start.

Bet: I Stole It to win

RACE 4

It took Misty Dreams 18 starts to land her maiden win but has raced with great consistency with eight minor placings. She closed off with a strong run to score here over 1100m last start and will take plenty of confidence out of that victory. Can go back-to-back. Lika Sun also comes off a last start maiden win when coming from near last on the Beaumont track to score by a length and a half on June 19. Du Jour Idea won first-up last campaign over this track and distance. Wasn’t pressured in her trial here on June 28. Never Sorry raced well last preparation and is a chance first-up.

Bet: Misty Dreams to win

RACE 5

Time To Boogie was given no peace in front when resuming here a fortnight ago before just being caught on the line by Amnesty who made it three in-a-row. Well placed dropping back from a Bm64 to a Class 1 and can make amends. Chipper did it tough out three-wide without cover when a half-length second to Twitch here on June 8 before a length and a half third to Super Friendship after being outside the leader. Back to 1000m suits. Ringdembells sat three-wide when third to Angel Fund at Wyong last start. Nice win at Kembla two starts earlier. Accredited was backed from $7.50 into $4 on debit and duly saluted at Nowra on June 20. Warrants respect again.

Bet: Time To Boogie to win. Exacta 1 / 2, 5, 6

Selfless Act can make it two wins in-a-row when she heads to Gosford. Picture: Bradley Photos

RACE 6

Selfless Act went back from a wide gate and made steady ground when third to Septime at Kembla first-up before sitting closer and finishing a half neck second to Pitavago at Newcastle on June 3. She stalked the speed and held on for a tough win at Kembla on June 17. Drawn to get the right run and can win again. Smooth Flight burned early from out wide to lead into a head wind before finishing fifth to Step Aside at Warwick Farm last start. Drops in grade and looks the hardest to beat. Almahero returns from a nine week let-up. Kicked off last campaign with a gutsy win at Canberra after racing three-wide. Drawn wide but gets a 3kg claim with Hannah Williams. Enzina has placed in both run back from a spell and won’t be far away again.

Bet: Selfless Act to win. Quinella/trifecta 2, 4, 6

RACE 7

Zambrero was taken back to last and was giving away over eight lengths rounding the turn before flashing home in the straight to finish a half-length fourth to Bowery Breeze over 1800m at Hawkesbury on June 11. Beat Time raid at Newcastle two starts earlier. Has been freshened for the drop back to 1600m. Smart As Smart maintained his perfect record at the track and distance here on June 22 with a nose win from Miss Shalaa. Leading chance again. Piraeus has had two runs back from a spell and looks like he will appreciate stepping up to the mile. Martini Crusader was hampered in the straight and pushed back towards the rails as the swoopers came down the middle when fifth to Awesome Wonder at Wyong on June 15.

Bet: Zambrero each-way. Quinella 4, 7
