GOSFORD
BEST BET
Race 5, No.2: EDGE OF REWARD
He’s racing under new trainer Nathan Doyle and going off his barrier trials, he’s enjoying his new stable. Is well place here to get the job done.
NEXT BEST
Race 7, No.7: SMART LITTLE MISS
She came from well back to win impressively first-up at Kembla Grange and has been freshened since and should be storming home again.
QUADDIE
Race 5: 2, 6, 13, 20
Race 6: 3, 7, 11, 12
Race 7: 1, 6, 7
Race 8: 2, 3, 4, 14
JOCKEY TO WATCH
Glyn Schofield isn’t getting a heap of rides but is winning his fair share of races this season. Notabadsuspect, Geewiz Johnny and Abuela can add to his recent success.
TAMWORTH
BEST BET
Race 6, No.3: GOBBLED
He’s well placed here by Brett Dodson after winning well last start at Coffs Harbour and he’s had a win here before on a heavy track.
TRAINER TO WATCH
Sue Grills can have a day out with good chances like Piccapeppa, Maly Malt and Just In Reach in the last race.
THE INSIDE MAIL FOR GOSFORD
RACE 5
Edge Of Reward looked to be doing it very easily in his latest barrier trial ahead of his first run in NSW after coming up from Victoria where his form was sound. He’s an on-pacer so should suit this track as the blinkers come off. Dreambender went better than the punters though on debut at Hawkesbury when third so look for him to be more respected here with natural improvement to come. Watch out for Cassimir if it gets a run while I Love Ruby cruised to a barrier trial win and gets in with a light weight from a decent enough gate.
Bet: Edge Of Reward to win
RACE 6
Secaution got crowded for room in the straight on debut at Warwick Farm but wasn’t far off the winner and drops back to provincial grade here so looks well placed to go better. Magadan just got beat by one better on debut and has drawn wide here but if Berry and slot him in somewhere he can come off the speed and be a threat. Quinlan draws barrier one and he should be able to lead or box seat and has had a nice lead up to this off a break with a barrier trial in between. Anarya has drawn the carpark but did look comfortable in a barrier trial and now will get a better idea of what’s under the bonnet.
Bet: Secaution to win
RACE 7
All Girls won fresh at Scone when letting down well from off the speed to score and she’s already win here in the past and 1100m looks to be her sweet spot. Stablemate Euphrates Dream keeps improving and is well placed in this grade now and has won at Wyong so Gosford shouldn’t be an issue. I Am Brazen has drawn out but has the speed got come across them and is fitter now for the fresh run and with luck should be in the mix. Smart Little Miss really let down well to score at Kembla fresh and a freshen up back 100m in trip won’t hurt.
Bet: Smart Little Miss to win
RACE 8
Deep Snow came on to run second to speedster Remlaps Gem in a barrier trial and it came out and ran well in town and Deep Snow is by Deep Field and appears to appreciate the wet ground. Way To The Stars has won both fresh runs to date and is being produced first-up here after beating home a Group 1 winner in his latest barrier trial but has a wide gate to overcome. London draws well and will be on the speed going off his previous from and he can go close here as a very fit horse.
Bet: Deep Snow to win
THE INSIDE MAIL FOR TAMWORTH
RACE 4
Malty Malt is putting together a nice record and has been freshened up to drop back slightly in trip and has won both her races to date on heavy-rated tracks so she’ll get the conditions to win again. Tonquani has won two of his past three to all of a sudden find form after struggling in higher grade last time in. these two horses look to standouts while Praeferox placed down in grade last time and Cubic Zirconia has raced in tougher races before.
Bet: Exacta 1, 2
RACE 5
Civil War has drawn well but a heavy track would be a query. If he handles it, he’s a good chance after putting the writing on the wall last start and more ground now suits. Holly Road has drawn awkward but tends to get back anyway so look for her to let down late third-up now. Hutchy’s Dream just ran into one better there two weeks ago on a Heavy 10 track when second over the same trip and he’ll be more respected this time in conditions that suit. Watch the betting with debutant Demoexcellence with a strong team behind her.
Bet: Civil War to win
RACE 6
Gobbled looks well placed by Brett Dodson and he comes off a last start win and is coming back out to a track where he’s had success on a number of occasions and wet ground isn’t an issue. Hard to beat from a good gate. Heredero also comes off a last start win but in lesser grade. The veteran shouldn’t be too fazed by the wet track. If fellow veteran Two Ducks Artie starts, he’s a live hope too and won two runs back on a Heavy 10.
Bet: Gobbled to win
RACE 7
Mystery Lad drops back a little in grade and deserves a little luck here. He’s untested on heavy ground but is a grey and they normally love it. King’s Gold is looking to continue going through the grades after a win at Grafton when overcoming a wide gate to win in very comfortable fashion and 1100m won’t be an issue. Just In Reach presents fresh off no barrier trial which is fine and he should be hitting the line well.
Bet: King’s Gold to win
