GOULBURN

BEST BET

Race 6, No.5: SELOUS

He looked the part in his lead up barrier trial and punters would’ve no doubt noted how easily he cruised up to them in his heat and he’ll be popular here.

NEXT BEST

Race 3, No.1: MIRACLE SPIN

He returned to run second first-up after getting stuck behind a wall of horses before running on well when getting clear air. He’s ready to win now.

VALUE BET

Race 5, No.3: MITTATA

The Longmire sisters have always thought plenty of Mittata but he hasn’t had the best of luck with barriers. If he gets some luck he might surprise them at decent odds on his home track.

QUADDIE

Race 6: 2, 5, 6, 10

Race 7: 2, 4, 6, 10

Race 8: 1, 2, 4, 12

JOCKEY TO WATCH

Alysha Collett’s ride on Forms Of Fear will be key from an awkward little draw while she can have success on the likes of Crime Spree and Enjolras.

TRAINER TO WATCH

James Cummings can continue his hot streak with Selous, Lilliput, Badge and Perpignan who all look like big hopes in their respective races.

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR GOULBURN

RACE 1

Chaotic Beauty is the type that always needs things to go her way due to a negative racing pattern but she’s genuine despite what her career record suggests and look for her to come at them late at a good time of her prep. Great Week also needs luck in his races and if it doesn’t get too heavy, he’s placed well to go close. The Redman might be the one at decent odds to have a look at.

Bet: Chaotic Beauty to win

RACE 2

Some rain won’t hurt Reginald’s chances down in grade here and the step up in trip should also favour him and he’s already a provincial winner. Crime Spree was no match for Reginal two starts back when it won at Newcastle but it now has a 3kg weight swing in its favour. He just needs to start better. Kataway just held on to win here last time over 2125m and will give them something to catch.

Bet: Reginald to win

RACE 3

Miracle Spin got stuck in a near-impossible position first-up before the gaps opened and he really hit the line hard which bodes well for his second-up run over more ground. The plan was to give Almahero a fresh run over 1500m despite showing good form over shorter trips last time in. She stable think he’s better at this trip. Vancouver Khan won over this trip last time in and two trials have him ready.

Bet: Miracle Spin to win

RACE 4

Forms Of Fear is third-up off two top efforts at the provincials and he should race positive here as he looks to keep going through the grades. The gate is awkward but he can sit outside the leader or even lead. Lord Paramount has to carry a big weight here (63.5kg) which may bring him down after a close fourth in a fair race at Warwick Farm last time.

Bet: Forms Of Fear to win

RACE 5

Fox Valley really had to dig deep to get the job done last time but won well enough in the end but is barrier one the best gate for him? He’s certainly on the way up. Anchorage hasn’t been seen publicly since running sixth at Wagga in April but has good fresh form and is astute hands under Matt Dale. Oakley’s Choice should take plenty out of his fresh run while Mittata has always promised a lot and hasn’t run worse than second first-up.

Bet: Mittata each way

RACE 6

Selous was put away after running seventh on debut in town and looks to have returned a much better horse going off the barrier trials and the James Cummings yard is on fire at the moment. The way cruised past them in his barrier trial will give punters plenty of confidence. Writrose handles wet ground and comes into this odd a winning barrier trial. Boy Loves To Run gets the winkers on for the first time off a couple of encouraging runs to kick off his career and a barrier trial since his last run has him very for this race against some horses who will improve off their runs.

Bet: Selous to win

RACE 7

Lonriolo races on the speed and is third-up now after racing in a couple of stronger races to kick off her career and she draws an idea gate and no doubt the expectation is that she’s right in the finish here. Lilliput closed off her latest barrier trial nicely over 1000m and she looks well placed for a 1300m assignment for her debut run and should present at nice enough value. Gulf Of Lion should ensure this is run at a decent clip and is an improver off a first-up run and present much fitter on this occasion.

Bet: Lilliput to win

RACE 8

Badge will appreciate a little more ground here and would’ve learned a lot from a debut run and he’s bred to handle a wet track. Pelsaert hasn’t won or placed yet but has been racing in stronger company so this is his chance to record his best race result and is fourth-up and without excuses. Rock Together was well supported here on debut but didn’t muster the early speed to put herself into the race over 1000. The extra 300m should help her here and she won’t be run off her feet early as a nice value chance.

Bet: Badge to win

RACE 9

Perpignan looks well placed here off a strong win at Newcastle last time and getting barrier one should be seen as a plus of this on-speed type who has turned the corner since a freshen up. Miss Thatcher drops back from a Highway race where she wasn’t too bad and won well at Wagga the start before so with some luck from a wide gate, she’s a chance. Love Of Air has drawn well and might be overs here.

Bet: Perpignan to win
