Race day focus: Best bets, analysis for Sale on Sunday
Flemington trainer Simon Zahra could land his first win since his split from Mathew Ellerton at Sunday’s Sale meeting.
Herald Sun form analyst Brad Waters runs the rule over Sunday’s Sale card.
BEST BET
BOMBER’S KISS (Race 7 No. 3 – $3.60)
Bomber’s Kiss ran strongly when narrowly beaten first-up and will be much fitter for that outing. The four-year-old could be the first win for Simon Zahra since his split from Mathew Ellerton.
NEXT BEST
LITTLE VISTA (Race 2 No. 8 – $3.40)
Little Vista is bursting to post his first win after three straight second placings. He’s racing in great heart and could break through for a deserved win.
SECRETLY AWESOME (Race 5 No. 4 – $3.60)
Secretly Awesome was beaten less than a length by the in-form Convict Sam two runs back before a steady effort at Sandown last time. He’s better suited in this smaller field.
VALUE BET
SHADOW GODDESS (Race 8 No. 4 – $19)
Shadow Goddess is way over the odds for the gelding’s return to racing at Sale on Sunday. The six-year-old has won twice in three first-up runs, including in a BM 64 race last time in. He’s a good each-way chance.
THE JOCKEY
DANIEL MOOR
Triple Group 1-winning jockey Daniel Moor heads to Sale for six rides on Sunday with his book including several strong chances.
CERRIDWYN (Race 1 No. 10 – $3.70), RECKLESS BAY (Race 2 No. 11 – $26), GLAMOURING (Race 3 No. 12 – $14), MAINLAND (Race 5 No. 7 – $14), BOMBER’S KISS (Race 7 No. 3 – $3.60), MAHIA (Race 8 No. 16 – $17).
THE WEEK AHEAD
Horsham also races on Sunday before the working week starts with a Terang card. Geelong races on Tuesday before Melbourne midweek racing returns to the Sandown Hillside track. Wangaratta will hold Victoria’s last meeting before the two-day Christmas break on Thursday.
