Herald Sun form analyst Brad Waters runs the rule over Wednesday’s meeting at Bendigo.
BEST BET
EXTREME EMOTION (Race 3 No. 2 – $2.40)
Extreme Emotion made a solid start to his career with his third on Bendigo Cup Day and won’t have to improve much to break through at his second attempt.
NEXT BEST
UNFORGIVEN (Race 2 No. 8 – $2.90)
Unforgiven made ground when not disgraced first-up last time in. He has had time to develop after a steady first campaign and he can make a winning return to racing at Bendigo.
HIGH COMMISSION (Race 7 No. 5 – $6)
High Commission raced on the speed before scoring easily at Mornington last time. He’s up in grade for this but could control this affair from the front.
DON’T DOUBT NIC (Race 8 No. 16 – $18)
Don’t Doubt Nic could provide a big finish to the day for punters. His two first-up runs have been solid as was his last jumpout in good company at Cranbourne leading up to this.
VALUE BET
NEEDLEWORK (Race 4 No. 2 – $10)
Needlework has had a few tries without breaking her maiden, but she was unlucky at Warrnambool last time out. Needlework is up another 100m in trip and rates a good each-way chance at odds.
THE JOCKEY
DANIEL STACKHOUSE
Daniel Stackhouse has rides in six of the eight races at Bendigo, including a couple of top chances throughout the day. THE SUPERINTENDENT (Race 1 No. 4- $4.60), BUCKLAND ABBEY (Race 2 No. 1 – $19), LUNA CAT (Race 3 No. 5 – $5), SCHUHBECK (Race 5 No. 5 – $4.60), WILD ABOUT HARRY (Race 7 No. 7 – $6), ABRAZEN LAUGH (Race 8 No. 11 – $8.50) OR TREAD SOFTLY (Race 8 No. 17 – $14)
THE WEEK AHEAD
The twilight racing season begins with an interesting card at Pakenham on Thursday. Kyneton races during the day on Friday before night racing returns at The Valley. Saturday will herald the first Cranbourne Cup meeting that carries city status while the famous Dunkeld Cup meeting will also be held on one of Australia’s most picturesque tracks on Saturday. The Donald Cup is on Sunday along with a Geelong fixture.
