TONY Gollan took a short time to reflect on his 2015-16 achievements on Saturday, but is well aware that once Monday dawns the meter is back to zero and it all starts again.

The stable celebrated its 88th metropolitan winner (officially 87.5) when Shipwrecked arrived in the 0MW at Doomben on Saturday, a mark well in excess of the record haul of 79 achieved 12 months earlier.

“Today’s a good day to celebrate the season and reflect on what we have achieved, but then we go back to work on Monday and we do it all again,” Gollan said.

“We have to be happy with the winners we have had this season and hopefully we can do the same again next season.”

Shipwrecked was well backed to win a two-year-old race on debut in October 2014, but Gollan said he has taken a long time to mature.

“He is owned by the Mitchell boys at Yarraman Park and they were keen to get him going early because he’s by their stallion Hinchinbrook,” Gollan said.

“He did show good ability early but it’s just taken him time to get that maturity.

“Now he’s there, he’s a really tractable horse and a dream for jockeys to ride.

“He’s a nice horse for this time of year and the next two months is his opportunity to win another race or two.”

Gollan is poised to open a Sydney stable in the next few months, but has spoken openly about his desire to maintain his position as the top dog in Queensland racing.
