TEGAN Harrison is well aware of what it takes to cause an early Winter Carnival boilover and has assured punters Didntcostalot will give odds-on favourite Fell Swoop something to chase in Saturday’s Victory Stakes at Doomben.

Harrison’s biggest career win came in this race two years ago when Temple Of Boom produced a 40-1 upset over stablemate Spirit Of Boom and the hotpot Snitzerland.

Didntcostalot is nothing like those odds, but few are tipping against Fell Swoop after his last-start T.J. Smith placing.

Harrison formed a formidable association with Didntcostalot over the summer, winning four races, culminating in the Group 3 George Moore Stakes, in which the pair stopped the clock in a sizzling 1:08.17.

Harrison knows the Victory is another step up in grade, but she says the others will have their work cut out staying in touch with him around the Doomben 1200m.

“He deserves his chance in this race,’’ Harrison said. “I’ve ridden him in a couple of jump-outs and I’m pretty happy with the way he’s going.

“He may not have the class of some of these but he gets every horse out of their comfort zone chasing behind him and a lot of them don’t run to their true form.’’

The former champion apprentice has a top book of rides to kick off the carnival, with juvenile filly Tiyatrolani one of the most interesting.

Tiyatrolani opened up a 7.5-length margin at the end of her debut win, which came after a flying start from the gates.

“She does that every single time,’’ Harrison said. “It’s like she’s done it in a past life. It just comes naturally to her.

“She’s just a little professional and going up to Saturday grade won’t faze her at all.’’

Harrison’s mounts also include Secret Saga, who is lucky to be there, with a minor setback last week meaning she was not on the float that rolled off the highway on the way to the Sunshine Coast.

“I’m happy to be back on her because she’s a filly that on her day, is capable of beating just about anything,’’ Harrison said.
