Talented Godolphin filly will miss the last Group 1 of Queensland Winter Carnival
TALENTED filly Ghisoni has been ruled out of Saturday week’s Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m).
TALENTED filly Ghisoni has been ruled out of Saturday week’s Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara at Eagle Farm.
Godolphin’s racing manager Darren Beadman confirmed the news today with the three-year-old set to head to the paddock in preparation for the spring instead.
“(John O’Shea) just felt she is probably looking for the paddock,” Beadman said.
“He just felt another couple of weeks going into this race wouldn’t help her out going into the spring.”
The news comes after Ghisoni finished a disappointing fifth as a short-priced favourite in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
The Lonhro filly missed the start and then tracked wide in the run before just plugging home in the straight.
The disappointing performance came after she blew away her rivals in the Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes at Doomben two weeks earlier.
Godolphin have always felt Ghisoni is still mentally a prep away and believe she can still be a force in the spring.
“There are a multitude of races she could target in the spring and it just all depends how she comes back from the spell,” Beadman said.
