STRADBROKE Handicap markets are set for a massive shake-up with wonder filly Ghisoni to miss Queensland’s richest race.
Godolphin have announced the star three-year-old filly will miss the Group 1 Stradbroke and instead run in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes at Eagle Farm on the same program on June 11.
Ghisoni is now likely to target the Group 1 Tatts’ Tiara at Eagle Farm, against her own sex, on June 25.
“We’ve always had an eye not only on this campaign, but the Spring where there are some very nice races for her,’’ Godolphin Australia boss Henry Plumptre said.
“She’s in great order ... we simply decided that this was the most suitable course to follow with a filly who has a great future.’’
Ghisoni was $6 second favourite for the Stradbroke after her dominant win in the recent Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes at Doomben.
Goodwood winner Black Heart Bart will carry the 58kg topweight in the $1.5 million Stradbroke Handicap, 3.5kg more than favourite Azkadellia.
Saturday’s Doomben 10,000 winner Music Magnate has been given 55.5kg to do the Brisbane sprint double last accomplished by Campaign King in 1988.
Trainer Chris Waller will have at least two runners in Brisbane’s premier race on June 11, with Delectation and Counterattack receiving 57kg and 52.5kg respectively.
