Magic Millions 2017: From Within chasing slice of history in Gold Coast feature
FROM Within will have to do more than become the first horse to win the Magic Millions at her second start on Saturday; she will also have to set a new record price for the winner of the race.

Despite the Magic Millions sale producing rocketing figures in recent years, the 2YO race that accompanies the sale has remained relatively the domain of “bargain buys.”

NEWS: ASIAN BUYERS SET SALES ALIGHT
A dozen years on from his success, Bradbury’s Luck remains the highest priced MM winner, costing $225,000 as a yearling the year before.
He is one of just five MM winners to sell for more than $150,000 in the ring, which is significant, given the sale average for Book 1 last year was $195,000. In fact, in the past six years, not one MM winner sold for higher than the previous year’s sale average.
Cheaper yearlings have more than held their own in the MM, with Bruce McLachlan’s Our Fiction (1993) holding the honour of the race’s cheapest winner.
Chris Munce was associated with one of the race’s cheapest winners, Brave Warrior (he relinquished the winning ride after a fall earlier in the day) and he has a great chance to add to the tradition this year, with Ours To Keep the cheapest horse in the final field of 16 on Saturday.
