James Orman to have flap surgery after horse bites of tip of his finger
Leading Queensland hoop James Orman is set to have surgery on his finger after Prince Of Boom took the tip of it off on Tuesday morning.
Leading Queensland jockey James Orman is firming to be fit for next month’s Magic Millions carnival at the Gold Coast following a nasty horse bite on Tuesday that took the tip of his finger off.
Orman was removing a tongue tie from the Rob Heathcote-trained Prince Of Boom when it took a nip of his finger and tore the top of it off.
An appointment on Tuesday afternoon determined the tip can’t be re-attached with Orman set to have flap surgery to put the skin over the missing part. X-rays also revealed a distal phalanx fracture.
“X-rays showed a distal phalanx fracture, they can’t put it back on but they’re doing flap surgery to put the skin over the missing part,” Orman said.
“They said it will heal fine.
“I’ll know after surgery when I’ll be back but would say that I’ll be back pretty soon.”
