EAGLE-EYED video watchers were on the money with the long-priced move for Miss Kindilan, who finished best to win the opening race on Tatt’s Tiara Day at Eagle Farm.

Some corporates bet as much as $51 on Wednesday and $26 was readily available in most places before it was picked off as the week went on.

On-course bookmakers took no chances, opening the Written Tycoon filly at $7 before easing her to a starting price of $8.50.

Trainer Barry Lockwood said Miss Kindilan was coming off a nightmare first up outing at the Gold Coast.

“Everything that could go wrong did go wrong,” he said.

“We put the blinkers on for security reasons and took the tongue tie off and it seemed to do the trick in her work through the week.

“She appreciated having some room to move and it’s nice to be back at headquarters.”

Jockey Brad Pengelly told connections Miss Kindilan still “has a lot of improvement” to come.

Ramornie might be next for Flamboyer

PATIENCE paid off for trainer Kelly Doughty when consistent galloper Flamboyer ran his rivals ragged in the Class 6 Plate (1400m) at Eagle Farm.

The Gold Coast trainer waited six weeks for a suitable race for Flamboyer and it paid off on Saturday when the Clang gelding led from go to whoa to score comfortably.

“It’s been six weeks since he ran last and we just decided we had to wait for the carnival horses to basically leave and then we knew we would be ready to go again,” Doughty said.

“There were some races there that we could have run him in but we didn’t want to just watch him go around and run a nice sixth or seventh so we decided to wait.

“We were going to trial him on Tuesday but they were washed out so Gary (Doughty) gave him a good gallop on Tuesday and it worked out well today.”

Rated perfectly in front by Blake Shinn, Flamboyer notched his seventh career win with the triumph. The Doughtys are now considering a trip to Grafton with the five-year-old for next month’s Ramornie Handicap.
