TEAM Snowden again underlined its credentials as Australia’s most powerful two-year-old stable as Attention won Saturday’s BRC Sires Produce Stakes, albeit with a host of eye-catching runs behind him.

Since teaming up in 2014, Peter and Paul Snowden have landed the Golden Slipper, Blue Diamond, ATC Sires, Magic Millions and now BRC Sires, with a possible J.J. Atkins to come in a fortnight.

Rider Blake Shinn has been a part of three of those wins and delivered a faultless on-speed display again on Saturday.

“It gives me great pleasure riding for the Snowdens. They map out their programs perfectly and this horse is no exception,” Shinn said.

“We jumped beautifully and I was able to let the other horse go and control the speed. I thought we would put the second horse (Dreams Aplenty) away more easily, but I loved the way my horse kept producing.

“I think he will run the mile. He does everything right and takes everything in his stride, which is a big asset to have.”

Paul Snowden said they purposely didn’t go “too deep” into the Sydney autumn because Brisbane was always a long-range plan for Attention, who had 10 days off after running in the ATC Sires.

Souchez races in the same colours as Capitalist, having been another purchase for ace bloodstock agent James Harron.

Favourite backers, who had crunched Souchez into an odds-on quote, were in trouble from the get-go, with the Lonhro colt slowly away and then circling the field before the turn.

He was then one-paced in the run to the line as the likes of Nikitas, Candika and Sacred Elixir powered home more strongly.

Trainer John Zielke believes Dreams Aplenty is also looking for the mile, and jockey Bobby El-Issa had a hardluck tale for him on return to scale.

“The saddle slipped up his neck. He got beat a neck. He should have won the race,” El-Issa said.

In addition to Dreams Aplenty, Queensland also has genuine Atkins hopes with Nikitas (third) and Candika (fourth).

“He ran well. The extra distance in two weeks will be in his favour,” Michael Cahill said of Nikitas.

Trainer Steve O’Dea was surprised Candika had to be pushed along from as far out as the 600m, but loved the way she hit the line.

“It seems she just wants that extra ground now,” he said.

Sacred Elixir gave away an impossible start, being last into the straight, before sprouting wings and announcing himself as perhaps the one to beat up to the mile on a big track in a fortnight.
