Melbourne Cup 2021: Full field announced, who are the favourites

Punters have all the Melbourne Cup information they need after a major announcement as racing fans mull over where to splash their cash.

The Melbourne Cup barrier draw has finally been revealed.

Each year, the announcement of the Melbourne Cup field is one of the most eagerly anticipated moments in racing.

The barrier draw took place at around 5.30pm (AEDT) on Saturday at Flemington after the Victoria Derby Day races were all run.

Defending champion Twilight Payment drew Barrier 2, while Caulfield Cup winner Incentivise will need to overcome a wide barrier after drawing Barrier 16.

Great House secured the last spot in the Melbourne Cup field by winning the Lexus G3 Hotham Stakes at Flemington on Victoria Derby day.

The Chris Waller-trained horse has moved from $51 into $26 in the betting markets following its win on Saturday.

However, Incentivise remains the red-hot Melbourne Cup favourite at $2.30 with the TAB, while Spanish Mission has firmed into $7.50 and Twilight Payment is also being favoured by punters at $12.

The Melbourne Cup is scheduled to be run at 3pm (AEDT) on Tuesday November 2.
