On The Punt: Best bets for Caulfield on Saturday, February 8, 2025
Form analyst Chris Vernuccio’s best bet comes up in the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes while a pair of two-year-olds also stand out.
Herald Sun and Racenet form analyst Chris Vernuccio looks at the CF Orr Stakes meeting at Caulfield on Saturday.
BEST BET
MR BRIGHTSIDE (R9 No.1 – $2.60)
While Mr Brightside’s first-up record isn’t as strong as his second-up figures, he did win the CF Orr Stakes last year in a nailbiting finish against Pride Of Jenni. He has a near-perfect record at the track and distance with five wins and a second from six attempts.
NEXT BEST
MY GLADIOLA (R5 No.1 – $1.90)
My Gladiola raced away for a dominant 1½-length win on debut in the Blue Diamond Preview off a couple of super jumpouts, running a second quicker than the colts and geldings division on the day. She is up against five rivals she defeated in the Preview and it’s hard to see them turning the tables on her.

ALEPPO PINE (R4 No.2 – $2.50)
The Godolphin colt was an impressive winner on debut on Ballarat Cup day in November and he has jumped out well for his return. The two-year-old colts and geldings don’t look as strong as the fillies but Aleppo Pine could make a statement on Saturday.
