Sydney’s star young rider Zac Lloyd and Melbourne’s champion jockey Blake Shinn have picked up James McDonald’s Group 1 rides as trainers scrambled to find replacement jockeys at Rosehill Gardens on Tuesday.

With McDonald having flown out to Dubai today where he will ride the world’s number one-ranked horse, Romantic Warrior, in the Dubai Turf at the World Cup meeting on Saturday, he had to relinquish his rides at the rescheduled feature Rosehill meeting.

Trainer Chris Waller had McDonald booked for Yulong-owned runners in both Group 1 races and announced Shinn as the new rider of imported mare River Of Stars in the Group 1 $1.5 million Kia Tancred Stakes (2400m).

Waller has called on Lloyd to ride Movin Out in the Group 1 $750,000 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m).

Shinn also replaced McDonald on Quietly Arrogant (Baillieu Handicap) and Brudenell (Star Kingdom Stakes), and Lloyd is the new jockey for King Of Thunder (Tulloch Stakes) and Willaidow (Doncaster Prelude).

Golden Slipper-winning jockey Damian Lane takes over from McDonald on Scarlet Oak (Emancipation Stakes) and Green Fly (HKJC World Pool Handicap).

McDonald’s unavailability to ride at Rosehill on Tuesday was one of the issues trainers needed to confront after the Tancred Stakes meeting was postponed last Saturday.

Trainer Adrian Bott has former Irish stayer Vauban set for the Tancred Stakes and said the decision to race on Tuesday caused some minor adjustments to the gelding’s preparation.

“We needed to rejig a few things with Vauban but we are constantly doing those things at various times with our horses anyway,’’ said Bott who trains in partnership with Gai Waterhouse.

“You would prefer it all went to plan but everyone is in the same boat going into Tuesday.

“The bottom line is Vauban is really well, he has come on nicely since his first-up run, he will appreciate going out to 2400m and a bit of give in the ground will suit him, too.’’

Vauban, an impressive winner on debut for the Waterhouse-Bott stable in the Sky High Stakes, is at $4.40 in latest TAB Fixed Odds betting for the Tancred and is pressing English raider Dubai Honour ($3.80) for favouritism.

The Rosehill track surface was rated a heavy 9 late on Monday with an encouraging weather forecast for Tuesday there is every chance of an upgrade during the meeting.

With the rescheduling of the Tancred meeting, this has necessitated the final acceptances and all-important barrier draws for the four Group 1 races on Day One of The Championships at Royal Randwick on Saturday to be held over after 6pm on Tuesday night.

Bott is sweating on favourable barriers for his form duo Royal Patronage (jockey Tim Clark) and Lady Of Camelot (Rachel King) for the Group 1 $4 million The Star Doncaster Mile (1600m).

Royal Patronage goes to the Doncaster after winning the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes before his close fourth in the George Ryder, while the ever-consistent Lady Of Camelot has been placed four times at Group 1 level this season including her narrow losses to Lady Shenandoah in the Surround Stakes (second) and Coolmore Classic (third) at her two most recent starts.

Royal Patronage is a very talented horse and should be hard to beat going third-up over the Randwick mile,’’ Bott said.

“Lady Of Camelot has to go to 1600m for the first time but I would love to see her draw a barrier in the Doncaster.

“She hasn’t run a bad race all season and deserves her chance in the Doncaster with only 51kg.’’

#The barrier draws for the Doncaster Mile and $2 million ATC Australian Derby (2400m) will be shown live on Sky Thoroughbred Central, channel 528.
