Was favourite to win last week’s Turnbull Stakes and finished less than two lengths behind Preferment. Saturday’s Herbert Power looks to be a significant drop in class. Has the in-form Hugh Bowman on board and has won over 2400m. Did carry 58.5kg to win in Adelaide last month.

Is an emerging sprinter who improved off his third to Good Project at Rosehill to beat that horse at the same track last start. Rises in grade tomorrow but drops 3kg on his last start win. The winner of three of his eight starts, Music Magnate is drawn to get the right run and can continue his winning moment.

Dashed away to win when resuming over 1200m at Rosehill on Sept 12. Forced to cover ground and after a tough run just missed behind Music Magnate over 1400m there on Sept 26. Drawn barrier one here and won’t be covering any ground. The one to beat.

ZARZALI

I remember seeing Zarzali do some amazing things at Scone then Newcastle and Kembla and thought that she’d be a classic filly then a staying mare of some considerable repute. This tiny but tough daughter of Hussonet was wonderful in the Brisbane winter finishing third in the 2000m Princess Stakes then a well beaten fourth to the mighty Winx in the Oaks. Go and watch the replay of the Tibbie and while there were a handful of very good runs from the beaten brigade, not many were above what Zarzali did that day. Barrier 14 is no worry from this start and the way Zazarli races, all we need now is a good honest tempo and Tim Clark to get her going at the right time.

Two runs back have been rippers over unsuitable trips and now strikes the mile for the first time this prep. Should roll forward and find a nice spot easily enough from the wide gate and be very hard to run down.

He keeps beating them and yet the bookies keep putting up juicy odds. Lock’s Legend looks a dead set $2.10 chance here so the $3 on offer with some bookmakers is a great price. He has won his past four on the trot and the drop back to 2030m should only suit him.
