Tommy Berry under an injury cloud for Rosebud meeting

Tommy Berry is in doubt for Saturday’s Listed Rosebud after aggravating an injury on Wednesday at the Randwick Kensington meeting.

Tommy Berry is in doubt for Saturday’s Listed Rosebud after aggravating an injury in his upper right arm on Wednesday at Randwick’s Kensington meeting.

Berry suffered the injury during a barrier trial on Monday, but it was further inflamed when steering Theblade to an impressive 5¾-length romp in the Street Boss @ Darley Handicap (1150m).

Berry then battled through the discomfort to partner Chris Waller’s Satin Sparkle which finished down the track in the Inglis Extra Bonus Handicap.

Upon returning to scale, Berry was in noticeable discomfort, unable to weight bare with his right arm.

He was stood down by the on-course doctor and sent for an urgent scan.

“No good,” Berry said.

“It happened on Monday but it flared up when riding Theblade.

“The doctor thinks I may have damaged one of the tricep muscles above the elbow.”

Berry will learn the full extent of the injury when he visits a specialist on Thursday.

This Saturday, Berry has nine engagement at Rosehill include the Peter Snowden-trained High Octane in the Listed Rosebud.
