Unbeaten star Vinrock, the brilliant winner of the Group 1 Inglis ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes, has been sent for a spell.

The Matt Laurie-trained galloper was a leading contender for Saturday week’s Group 1 $1 million Champagne Stakes (1600m) but will take no further part in the Autumn Carnival.

Vinrock became the hottest future stallion prospect in Australia when the talented colt brought up a winning hat-trick to start his career in last Saturday’s Sires’ at Royal Randwick.

In the process he became the first son of champion sire I Am Invincible to claim a Group 1 victory at two.

It led to forecasts from some breeding experts that Vinrock could be worth as much as $20 million.

Vinrock also won the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) at Flemington, becoming the first horse since Full On Aces in 1981 to complete the VRC-ATC Sires double.

Vinrock was a $3.50 chance for the Champagne Stakes before being removed from betting.

A $300,000 purchase at the 2024 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Vinrock is the third foal of Group 2 Matriarch Stakes champ Girl Gone Rockin’, a Redoute’s Choice mare who won four of her 14 starts for Team Hawkes.
