The Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes headlined the Randwick card on Saturday and here is what the jockeys had to say about their mounts’ performances in selected races on the program.

The jockey reviews for all the runners in each of Saturday’s main races are below.

Race 4 – Listed City Tattersall’s Club Cup (2400m)

1st – REDSTONE WELL (Tom Sherry) He ran well. I had a little concern about 2400 metres because he travels quite well within himself but going to the front he relaxed quite nicely and the quickened really well at the top of the straight. To his credit he stuck it out strong and was quite impressive.

2nd – THINK ‘N’ FLY (Craig Williams) Really pleased with that performance. The winner was too sharp but he ran as well as he could.

3rd – STRATHTAY (Jay Ford) He ran really well. His forte is a stamina test and he didn’t get it today with a slowly run race.

4th – CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD (James McDonald) He wasn’t suited by the slow tempo.

5th – SIR LUCAN (Adam Hyeronimus) Happy enough with him. His race will come.

6th – TAPILDOODLEDO (Jason Collett) The steady tempo didn’t suit him. He ran home fine but was just too far off the lead.

7th – RAGING BULL (Rachel King) Good effort up in grade.

8th – CANBERRA LEGEND (Tyler Schiller) They just didn’t go quick enough for him, and he was overdoing it from the middle stages. I think he’s better suited at 2000m.

Race 5 – Benchmark 94 Handicap (1600m)

1st - MAJOR BEEL (Tim Clark) He was brave with the big weight first-up. He’s laid a good platform for the campaign.

2nd - GALERON (James McDonald) He ran as well as he could. The leader just got away with enough that he was able to hold us off late.

3rd - ROMA AVENUE (Reece Jones) The winner was able to control the race to suit himself in front. My bloke tried hard and ran well considering he was up in grade again today.

4th - JUNIPAL (Dylan Gibbons) If he can find a race with a bit more tempo and some cut in the ground, he’s going well enough to win. He ran well today.

5th - FLOATING (Jason Collett) The track is a bit firm for him but he ran well.

6th - ZEYREK (Zac Wadick (a3)) He ran well. He peaked on his run with the big weight.

7th - ALMANIA (Benjamin Osmond (a3)) A good effort first-up. He’s a horse that improves into the preparation and he wasn’t beaten far.

8th - PESHMERGA (Jay Ford) She got tired again. She was second-up off a long break so expect her to benefit again from the run.

Race 6 – Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m)

1st - MANAAL (Jason Collett) She still gets a bit antsy going out onto the track, but then she goes to the start like a lamb, so, it’s a complete contrast. She was in the gates first, she handled that well enough, she was cleanly away and able to get into a good spot, nice win.

2nd - AMEENA (James McDonald) She was super, really brave. She gave me everything she had.

3rd - LAZZURA (Tommy Berry) Really big run from her today. We rode her a pair closer than we usually would due to the pattern of the day so far. She was the first one on the scene and beaten by two horses, two very smart fillies that had already had the run under their belts. A good preparation ahead.

4th - ZEITUNG (Rachel King) She ran a super race again. She is crying out for that little bit further now.

5th - MORE TERRITORIES (Tyler Schiller) Fantastic run first-up. I think she is going to be better up to the 14[00] but she was not far away today.

6th - WINNING PROPOSAL (Reece Jones) Just needed that run under her belt today. It is was 1100m I think she goes close. Just out on her feet late.

7th - EL MORZILLO (Craig Williams) Really pleased with her performance. She was a bit fresh in the gates today. She was hesitant out and found herself back. I followed up the back of James (McDonald), and then followed the eventual winner (Manaal). Those two horses had had the run under their belts. Now she has so she is in for a nice preparation.

8th - TOO DARN LIZZIE (Tim Clark) She ran well first-up. A few of the others had had the benefit of a run. She wasn’t beaten too far.

9th - TRAFALGAR SQUARE (Dylan Gibbons) Big step up in grade but I thought she handled herself well.

10th - SHOHISHA (Chad Schofield) Obviously it was a big step up in grade for her since her midweek win. I thought she handled herself well. She ran last but I think she might be up to them.

11th - PHOTOGRAPHICS (Molly Bourke (a)) She is still needing to go through her grades and learning but still ran well.

Race 7 – Group 3 Concorde Stakes (1200m)

1st - I AM ME (Nash Rawiller) I was surprised, because I really dived through that gap, came off Way To The Stars back, and as soon as I produced her, I thought, I’m in trouble, because, you know, obviously, Bella Nipotina was coming; it was pretty quick at that point. I thought she’d out-tough me, but I loved the character of my horse. She picked up and really just wasn’t going to lay down.

2nd - BELLA NIPOTINA (Craig Williams) Not the result like always but most importantly the way that she performed, the way she went and the way she initially felt like came through the race really well she is in for a great preparation.

3rd - WAY TO THE STARS (Rachel King) Massive step up for him. Gee he is tough and all heart.

4th - PRIVATE EYE (Jay Ford) Super return. Obviously short of a distance at his best. But he was hitting the line very nicely.

5th - GIGA KICK (James McDonald) More than adequate run. He jumped really well, travelled comfortably in a midfield position. He gave me a 150m sprint then levelled out pretty quickly after. Obviously sub-32 sectionals late which was pretty hard to do first-up so very good run first-up.

6th - RED CARD (Adam Hyeronimus) I thought she ran fantastic. First-up run, 1100m will be her sweet spot. Good stakes race wins in her.

7th - DRAGONSTONE (Tyler Schiller) Great return from him. He had to do it a bit tough out wide. I thought he toughed it out really well. Especially going that time being out on the track.

8th - AFT CABIN (Jason Collett) Settled back. Don’t know if he liked being boxed in underneath and through them. Felt like he had more than what he offered.

9th - MORAVIA (Dylan Gibbons) He has come back in terrific order. For a day where they are not making up ground, he has made up good ground late.

10th - BANDI’S BOY (Nick Heywood) He went really well today. 1200m next start will be spot on.

11th - REMARQUE (Tommy Berry) Just unlucky. Got caught behind the wrong horse. He took us out of the race the whole way. Forgive run.

12th - LE MELODY (Reece Jones) Enjoyed a nice little run in behind the speed. When they quickened he wasn’t up to scratch.

Race 8 – Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m)

1st - BUCKAROO (Tommy Berry) Chris (Waller) just said, ‘look if you can get him to jump today, put him into the race and let him know it’s game on,‘ and he was brilliant today, so he really deserved that win. I thought I just got him but I’m a bad judge, especially when you’ve got Nash (Rawiller) breathing down your neck he just throws them over the line.

2nd - HINGED (Nash Rawiller) She is a great mare. Tried her backside off. Felt like she might have hit the front a stride before and a stride after so happy with the way she has returned. I actually think she will be better suited again when she gets into a super high pressure race. What that is I am not sure. We tried to be as positive on her today. Still her turn of foot let her down a bit. Her strength will get her home in one of these.

3rd - NONCONFORMIST (Harry Coffey) Really good run. Good to see him return like that. The best part of his race was the last 100m so that is important.

4th - ADELAIDE RIVER (Dylan Gibbons) I think we are getting back to near his best. Shame it wasn’t a fair deck to see how well he has really gone. Be surprised if many horses have made as much ground as he has today.

5th - JUST FINE (Rachel King) Really proud of him today. He appreciated the step up and will take plenty of improvement. He is definitely getting back to his best.

6th - ZARDOZI (James McDonald) We had a good run in the race. She just didn’t produce the goods. I don’t know.

7th - FRANCESCO GUARDI (Tyler Schiller) Great run today. He is probably looking for that 2000/2400 but was really impressed with him. He just missed the kick a little bit but if he can put himself in the race next start he will be running a good race.

8th - ATHABASCAN (Jason Collett) Lovely return. Ran well.

9th - MILITARY MISSION (Tim Clark) Nice run for a horse better suited when he gets to 2400m.

10th - POPTRONIC (Adam Hyeronimus) Disappointing. Probably the firm track.

Race 9 – Group 2 Tramway Stakes (1400m)

1st - ROYAL PATRONAGE (Tim Clark) First-up from a long spell, it’s a pretty, pretty good effort from him. He had a prep early in the year in Melbourne, but he’s come back in and he’s just been going so well at home, working fantastic and trials were good. When he was able to bounce and adjust to that seven-furlong speed so comfortably, if anything, raced a bit keen early, because that was the unknown, how he was going to react to a fast run seven (furlongs - 1400m), but he travelled sweetly and he was really tough. He’ll continue to improve, how far he gets, even in distance is still a bit of an unknown as well. I think he’s got plenty of options going forward, anyway, I’m sure Gai (Waterhouse) has got the calendar out looking through them.

2nd - AMELIA’S JEWEL (Tommy Berry) Couldn’t have been any more proud of her. For her to be first-up today and to run at that sort of speed it really dragged it out of her a little bit. As soon as Kovalica came up she was in for the fight. She was strong through the line. She’s in for a great prep.

3rd - KOVALICA (James McDonald) He’s run incredibly well. It was so hard to get into the race. Being first-up he couldn’t have gone any better.

4th - FREEDOM RALLY (Craig Williams) Was able to utilise a nice barrier draw. They are breaking records today. We were able to be close to the winner. I think he will improve with the run but I think he’s in for a good prep.

5th - KINTYRE (Jason Collett) Happy with that. He was fresh today. Positioned well and stuck on well considering.

6th - FELIX MAJESTIC (Molly Bourke (a)) He’s run a super race. He went hard and finished it off strong. Just weakened out the last bit.

7th - ARCTIC GLAMOUR (Tyler Schiller) I thought she did a great job the way the track is playing. Not in her favour being that far back. Great job to run on.

8th - NUGGET (Dylan Gibbons) He has gone enormous. That brutal tempo had him near his top most of the way. Did a good job to finish off the way he did.

9th - PHEARSON (Rachel King) He ran super today. Running in good company and running up to that mark.

10th - MY OBERON (Chad Schofield) Nice return. The tempo had him a little bit strung out but I thought he was brave to stick on the way he did. Will appreciate more distance and the edge off the track.

11th - DEMOCRACY MANIFEST (Nash Rawiller) I got back a long way. He travelled really kindly. Got flushed very deep on the corner. Left an impossible task.

12th - LOCH EAGLE (Regan Bayliss) They just went too quick for him the whole race. He was off the bridle. Will be better suited third up to the mile.

13th - STOCKMAN (Reece Jones) 1400m on a firm track is obviously not his go but he tried hard. He will get better.

14th - OLD FLAME (Winona Costin) Just left three deep no cover. Left without a fighting finish.
