NEWCASTLE INSIDE MAIL
RACE 1: SUPER MAIDEN PLATE (900m)
PRIVATE HARRY (2) is a debutant by Harry Angel from the family of Arkady. Has had five trials and won four including his latest at Newcastle on Oct 22 by nearly five lengths in 55.26sec, the fastest of the day and the only horse to break 56sec. ESRAAR (7) was in the market on debut but only beat one home after leading at Sandown in May. Outside leader and unextended when a close second in her recent Rosehill trial. TOYGER (1) has placed all four runs this prep and won’t be far away again.
BET: Private Harry to win.
RACE 2: MIDWAY BENCHMARK 64 (900m)
LIVIN’ THING (2) was very impressive charging home from last to beat Istolea Merc on debut at Hawkesbury. Stirred up pre-race and raced keenly when second last at Warwick Farm two weeks later. ZOE SHARK (8) is knocking on the door for another win. Will take improvement from her first-up second to One Kind here two weeks back. Meets her 4.5kg better. ONE KIND (3) was also first-up when she won with 52.5kg. BRONCO REVOLUTION (9) will be better for her first-up fourth at Kembla.
BET: Livin’ Thing each-way.
RACE 3: FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN HANDICAP (1300m)
AMUSING (3) is by Epsom Derby winner Masar from a stakes-producing daughter of Serenade Rose from the Godolphin yard. Has been trialling well including a win from Nantucket Island in her Hawkesbury trial. SISTER DAAE (2) settled just behind the speed and battled away OK when fourth behind the talented Winning Proposal on debut at Warwick Farm in June. Has been good without pressure in her two recent trials. LADY SAVANNAH (11) was held up until the 300m when fourth to Full Metal Jacket at Kembla last start.
BET: Amusing to win.
RACE 4: CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1300m)
HOW MUCH BETTER (3) debuted with a handy win from Dunbelievin’ over 1350m at Wyong last December. Didn’t appreciate the wet tracks in three starts since. Closed well when less than a length away in fourth to Hoo Ya Mal in his Rosehill trial on Oct 18. ACE’S IN BLOOM (4) kicked off her campaign with a win here in August then placed third at her last three runs. Made ground behind Lady Ichikawa here last start. Gets the blinkers on. IRISH BLISS (2) resumes off a smart trial win here 11 days ago.
BET: How Much Better to win.
RACE 5: COLTS, HORSES & GELDINGS MAIDEN HANDICAP (1300m)
ROTAGILLA (3) is a first starter by All Too Hard from the Chris Waller yard. Ran home smartly along the rails from last to win her Warwick Farm trial before coming from midfield out wide when a close second to Recruiter in her Rosehill heat. OMNIC (1) was forced to sit back wide throughout and still made up a little ground despite beating just one home when resuming here four weeks ago.
BET: Rotagilla to win.
RACE 6: BENCHMARK 64 (1900m)
CHEVAL SAVANT (1) was checked and lost momentum passing the 800m before making ground when eighth to Behind The Storm first-up then battled away when eighth to Green Belt on the Kensington second-up. Beaten just over two lengths both times. Ready to peak and the 1900m is ideal. BE REAL (4) was very unlucky here first-up when held up until near the 50m when she got room towards the rails and finished a half-length third. Came from last and made up some ground at Warwick Farm last start. ORDER TO CHARGE (5) can run well.
BET: Cheval Savant to win.
RACE 7: BENCHMARK 68 (1500m)
BESTOWER (3) is much better than her first-up eighth behind Artful Persuasion at Kembla on Oct 12 after laying in and getting well back. Tongue Tie goes on and she is two from two second-up including one over 1614m. DREAMDEEL (2) was first-up for nine weeks and sat behind the leader when a three-quarter-length second to Crop Duster in the Jungle Juice Cup two weeks ago. Will be better for the run. SIXSPEED (1) boxed on for fourth in that race and won’t be far away again.
BET: Bestower to win.
RACE 8: CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1600m)
BRAZIL (1) ran a handy race when seventh to Hellaine over an unsuitably short 1200m when resuming before putting his rivals away with a near two-length win from Maricabo Sun over 1500m. Will have no problem stepping up to the mile and beyond. INVINCIBLE EMMA (3) ran down Jawharat Dubai to win a Sumer Maiden on debut at this course before a spell. Battled away when fifth to Artful Persuasion first-up this prep. ICEMAN (2) ran well to win at Warwick Farm last start.
BET: Brazil to win.
