WEDNESDAY MEETINGS: Bendigo (10 races, 12pm), Mount Gambier (8 races, 1.08pm), Canterbury (8 races, 1.20pm), Doomben (8 races, 1.28pm), Ascot (7 races, 4.55pm).
CANTERBURY
BRAD DAVIDSON (Daily Telegraph)
ZUMBELINA
Race 3, No. 9
If she drew a barrier she beats Spirit And Fire on debut in August and her trial since was very good. Looks a filly with plenty of promise and she should notch her maiden win here.
STEPHEN ZAMMIT (Daily Telegraph)
KANDINSKY
Race 4, No. 2
From the Team Hawkes camp, this lightly-raced gelding scored on debut at Warwick Farm on November 11 and was then spelled. He resumed with a nose second over this track, distance and grade on October 5. Much fitter now and is ready to win again.
SHAYNE O’CASS (Sportsman)
BELLA GALEANO
Race 7, No. 5
Was ‘gone’ for all money on form with three lasts and a sixth in a horrible couple of preps. But whatever was worrying her is far behind her. She has been superb in her two runs this time in work — and, as a minor fan of the mare, I think she’s going better than ever, even when she was looking quite handy early on.
BENDIGO
MICHAEL MANLEY (Herald Sun)
STRYKINGLEE
Race 5, No. 4
Resumed with excellent third at Cranbourne behind speed machine Runson when made up ground out wide. Step to 1100m and Bendigo should make the difference.
MOUNT GAMBIER
LINCOLN MOORE (The Advertiser)
DIDONATO
Race 1, No. 10
Handy effort in town on debut before leading them and only run down late when resuming at Murray Bridge. Looks nicely suited here, the Kennewell stable don’t go to Mt Gambier too often and expect this filly to take some beating.
