Light Infantry has light tune-up for King Charles III Stakes after arriving in Australia
Ciaron Maher and David Eustace import Light Infantry is one of 10 internationals to arrive in Sydney for the spring carnival.
Gun import Light Infantry has travelled to Australia in tip top-order and took his first strides towards the King Charles III Stakes with a quiet hitout at Canterbury Park on Tuesday morning.
Ciaron Maher and David Eustace’s new addition is one of a host of internationals that arrived last weekend to begin preparing for Sydney’s spring carnival.
Light Infantry has returned to Australia after finishing sixth in last year‘s Golden Eagle with the Group 1 placegetter set to remain in the country with Maher and Eustace this time.
The smart son of Fast Company is in good shape heading towards his Sydney goal before connections give him the chance to target the Cox Plate.
“He has travelled well. Ciaron is happy with him,” Eustace said.
“He looked nice and bright out on the track and didn't do too much there on Tuesday morning.
“All is well and he will run in the King Charles III then go to the Cox Plate all being well.”

Light Infantry is a $6 equal second elect for the King Charles III Stakes at Royal Randwick on October 14 while he is $15 for the Cox Plate.
Maher and Eustace also had Nails Murphy and Zoology arrive in the country and are hoping to get the latter of those gallopers into the $10m Golden Eagle.
Zoology is Group 3 placed has travelled well to Australia.
“He is well,” Eustace said.
“We are hoping to get him to the Golden Eagle but it may be touch and go to get him a run with his rating.”
Among the other internationals to have a look around Canterbury were James Ferguson-trained duo Land Legend and Canberra Legend.
Canberra Legend likely to head to the Group 3 Craven Plate (28 Oct) and Land Legend the ATC St Leger (14 Oct).
Chris Waller’s new addition Ace Of Kings, a Golden Eagle hope, and Joseph O’Brien’s Buckaroo all also stepped out with the latter on a King Charles III Stakes path.
