Images have emerged of the heartwarming moment a jockey who was on life support after a race fall reunites with her favourite animal.

The heartwarming moment a jockey who was on life support after a horrific racing accident reunites with her favourite animal has emerged.

Leah Kilner, 24, took to social media to share photos of her patting and kissing horses at trainer Rob Heathcote’s stable while in her wheelchair following her horror fall on July 3.

The rising star was left in coma with broken bones and serious spinal and head injuries after her horse Stella Turn buckled during a race at Grafton in the NSW Northern Rivers region.

Shocking footage shows Kilner being thrown by the horse around 80m from the finish line before being trampled on by other 600kg horses.

Kilner was later flown to the Princess Alexandra hospital in Brisbane, undergoing surgery to release the pressure on her brain.

Just one month later, Kilner is continuing her rehab and recovery with a little help from her ponies.

“Ponies are the best medicine,” she posted on social media.

“Such a special moment, I’m so happy you are out of hospital Leah,” one commenter replied.

Trainer and father Greg Kilner said Leah’s love for horses never dimmed.

‘That visit to see the horses has got her up and got her going, I am so proud of her,” he said.

“It is unbelievable how she has come through, it’s really a miracle. If you had seen her in the first couple of days, it was just heartbreaking.”
