Kyle Wilson-Taylor delivers cheeky quip after beating partner Angela Jones in Bribie Handicap at Eagle Farm
Kyle Wilson-Taylor edged out partner Angela Jones in a Tony Gollan quinella in the Bribie Handicap at Eagle Farm and gave a cheeky quip after the win.
In-form jockey Kyle Wilson-Taylor had a quick answer when asked how he feels when he is in a tight finish with his partner, fellow Brisbane jockey Angela Jones.
“I push my horse a bit harder, don’t worry about that,” Wilson-Taylor quipped, after winning the Listed Bribie Handicap on Golden Boom in a narrow result over Zarastro which was ridden by Jones.
The top money for the $160,000 scamper over 1000m at Eagle Farm was always going to stay in the family as Wilson-Taylor and Jones singled out to fight out the finish on Tony Gollan-trained stablemates.

It was another big moment in an important period for Wilson-Taylor who the previous Saturday had won two Stakes races at Doomben including one on Hidden Wealth in the Group 3 George Moore Stakes.
Golden Boom races in the same Archer Park colours as Hidden Wealth and had lined up as a $6 chance in the Bribie which Gollan had gang-tackled with six runners.
The sharp sprinter had a wide gate but that was probably an advantage at Eagle Farm on Saturday with many winners staying well clear of the fence.
Zarastro raced well considering he probably wants 1200m but Wilson-Taylor was glad to get one over his partner.
“I went past the line and I gave Ange an annoying sound, which I knew would have irritated her,” Wilson-Taylor said.
“Then I looked at her and said ‘I can’t let you have all the fun’.

“I am very proud of her success, but I’m glad I could get one back on her.
“To be honest I almost counted my horse out, halfway up the straight, it just felt like other horses had the better of him but his sheer tenacity got him over the line.
“I’ve had great success in these (Archer Park) colours since I first came to Queensland as a young apprentice jockey.
“These owners have been very good to me from day dot.”
Wilson-Taylor revealed recently that he has been seeing a sports psychologist which he believes has helped him overcome a wave of riding suspensions and take his career to a new level.
The proof was in the pudding again as he calmly steered Golden Boom to win from a wide gate.
There was mayhem at the start of the Bribie with Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Robbie Dolan hanging on for dear life on Nettuno who came out a long last and it was remarkable he was only beaten less than three lengths.
Old warrior Rothfire, returning from a stint on the sidelines, was slow away and finished eighth, beaten just over two lengths.
Trainer Rob Heathcote was happy with the run and said vets had gone over Group 1 winner Rothfire post-race and they were also happy with him.
