Ipswich Cup given all clear after small electrical fire in grandstand
Racing will be unaffected at Saturday’s Ipswich Cup, despite a small electrical fire in the old grandstand on Friday night which was quickly extinguished by firefighters.
An electrical fire in the grandstand at the Ipswich Turf Club will not put the meeting in jeopardy, with officials still expecting a bumper day for the flagship event.
Emergency crews were called out to the Bundamba track on Friday night and were able to contain the small fire in the old grandstand, with minimal damage done on the eve of the club’s biggest day.
The Ipswich Cup is one of the most attended race meetings in Queensland every year.
The small fire will have no impact on the race day operations or the logistics of running the race meeting.
